Stop treating every painful tendon like it's begging for more friction.

When tissue is already irritated, aggressively attacking the painful spot isn't always the answer.

Think about the bigger picture.

Overuse injuries can involve:

Inflammation.

Localized swelling.

Protective muscle tension.

Restricted movement.

Changes in the surrounding tissue environment.

So rather than focusing exclusively on the tendon, what happens when we address the fluid AND fascia surrounding the problem?

That's one of the reasons I love Myofascial Lymphatic Drainage for clients dealing with overuse and repetitive-stress complaints.

We can support fluid movement, work with surrounding fascial restrictions and decrease the amount of force we're putting into an already sensitive area.

Pain doesn't automatically mean "go deeper."

Sometimes it means we need to work smarter.

Want more tools for pain, swelling, inflammation and fascial restriction? MFLD was built for exactly that.

That arthritic joint may not need you to dig into it.

It may need you to consider what's happening around it.

When a client has an irritated, painful joint, our instinct as massage therapists is often to work the muscles surrounding it.

But inflammation can contribute to swelling, pressure, stiffness and discomfort.

And that can influence the surrounding fascial environment as well.

This is where lymphatic-focused work can add another dimension to your treatment.

Instead of simply trying to "loosen" everything with more pressure, Myofascial Lymphatic Drainage allows us to work with:

fluid + fascia + mobility + the nervous system.

And because the techniques don't depend on aggressive pressure, they're particularly useful when the client is already tender and doesn't tolerate heavy work well.

Sometimes the client who hurts the most...

needs you to push the least.

The myth:

Lymphatic techniques are for lymphedema.

Yes.

But ONLY for lymphedema?

Not even close.

This is one of the biggest misconceptions I see among massage therapists.

The lymphatic system is involved in fluid balance, immune function, and the transport of substances from the interstitial spaces back toward circulation.

And when tissues are irritated, injured, overloaded or recovering?

Inflammation and changes in fluid dynamics are often part of the picture.

Now add fascia.

Swelling can influence tissue pressure and mobility. Scar tissue and fibrosis can alter how tissues move. Pain can create guarding and restriction.

That's why Myofascial Lymphatic Drainage looks at both lymphatic movement AND the fascial environment.

Think beyond lymphedema:

• Arthritis and joint irritation
• Tendinitis and overuse injuries
• Sprains and strains
• Post-surgical swelling
• Scar restrictions
• Fibrosis
• Chronic pain
• Headaches and migraines
• Sinus congestion
• Prenatal and postpartum swelling
• Exercise recovery
• And many other situations where swelling, inflammation and restricted tissue mobility are part of the clinical picture

Lymphatics aren't a specialty system that suddenly matters when someone develops lymphedema.

They're working every single day.

Maybe it's time our massage treatments started considering them that way.

Massage therapists are taught to prioritize client results at all costs.

But here’s the truth:

A technique that destroys the therapist’s body is not sustainable therapy.

Your body is your career.

If your continuing education doesn’t consider body mechanics first, it’s setting you up for burnout.

That’s one of the reasons Myofascial Lymphatic Drainage was designed to be:

âś” Gentle on the therapist
âś” Powerful for the client
âś” Sustainable for a long career

After 28 years in medical massage, I can tell you this:

The smartest therapists invest in modalities that protect their body.

🔥 Controversial massage therapy opinion:

If body mechanics isn’t the FIRST thing you consider when choosing a CE class…

you’re choosing the wrong classes.

I see therapists sign up for classes because:

• The techniques look impressive
• The results look dramatic
• The instructor has a big following
• The videos look cool on Instagram

But almost no one asks the most important question:

“What will this do to my body?”

Here’s the reality no one talks about:

Many popular massage techniques are fantastic for clients… but terrible for therapists.

Thumb crushing.
Constant deep pressure.
Aggressive repetitive movements.

And then we wonder why massage therapists are burning out after 5–10 years.

After 28 years in medical massage, I’ve learned something important:

The best modalities don’t just help your clients.

They protect the therapist too.

That’s one of the reasons I developed Myofascial Lymphatic Drainage (MFLD).

âś” Powerful clinical results
âś” Deep nervous system regulation
âś” Therapist-friendly body mechanics

Because a technique isn’t truly great if it ends your career early.

Massage therapists:

👉 Your body is your most valuable business asset.

Choose your education like it matters.

Because it does.

Stop Choosing CE Classes Based Only on Client Results.

Massage therapists… we need to talk about body mechanics.

If your body isn’t the first thing you consider when choosing a continuing education class, you’re doing it backwards.

Yes — many modalities promise amazing results for clients.
But what they don’t tell you is that some of those techniques are brutal on the therapist’s body.

Deep pressure.
Thumb-driven techniques.
Forceful repetitive movements.

They might work… but at what cost?

Too many talented therapists leave this profession after just a few years because the techniques they were taught destroy their hands, shoulders, and backs.

A great modality should do two things:

âś” Deliver powerful results for clients
✔ Protect the therapist’s body

That’s exactly why Myofascial Lymphatic Drainage (MFLD) was designed the way it is.

MFLD uses slow, strategic fascial techniques that create powerful physiological change without forceful pressure or strain on the therapist.

Your clients get incredible results.
And you get a career that lasts decades — not just years.

After 28 years in medical massage, I can tell you this:

The smartest therapists don’t just choose techniques that work.
They choose techniques that allow them to keep working.

✨ Work smarter.
✨ Protect your body.
✨ Build a career that lasts.
