Clarification on Recent Video and Our Commitment to Child Care
Dear Community,
We want to take a moment to address a recent video that was shared publicly, which raised concerns about the care provided at our St.Albans center. First and foremost, we understand the importance of maintaining a trusting, safe, and nurturing environment for every child, and we are committed to providing the highest standard of care. We would like to clarify the situation and reassure you that your child’s well-being and emotional health are always our top priority.
The video in question captured a moment where a child, known to experience big emotions, was upset and crying on the playground. This is a normal part of childhood development, especially for children as young as four, who can sometimes struggle with transitions or frustration when things don’t go as they expect. In this particular case, the child was upset about not being able to play with a toy they wanted, and our staff responded by offering space and providing calm reassurance.
To ensure full transparency and to address the concern raised, we carefully reviewed the security footage from that time. The footage shows our staff tending to the child with great care, getting down to the child’s level, offering water, and rubbing the child’s back in an effort to comfort them. There was no yelling or inappropriate behavior involved. After the child calmed down, they were able to rejoin the group, and shortly after, the entire class participated in a large group activity, which was inclusive and engaging for all the children. The child was able to enjoy the rest of the outdoor time, playing happily with friends.
We want to reassure you that the family of the child involved has been made aware of the occurrence, and we have made the security footage from that day available to them, so they can see firsthand how our educators handled the situation with care and compassion.
We understand how seeing a child in distress can be upsetting, but we want to reassure you that our staff is trained to handle these situations with patience, care, and respect. Our approach is always to support children through their emotions in a way that promotes emotional development and ensures they feel safe and understood.
As always, we are happy to address any concerns or questions you may have. If you ever feel uncertain or would like to learn more about how we approach emotional development or any other aspect of our care, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Your trust in us is invaluable, and we are dedicated to maintaining an open line of communication with you.
