Jerry Wen has been part of the RSM community for 5 years and has grown into a dedicated and confident math student. His participation in the RSM Honors Class has helped him strengthen his mathematical thinking and prepare for competitions such as the AMC 8.

Jerry believes that success starts with being engaged in the learning process. His advice to other students is simple: “Pay attention in class and do homework.”

By staying focused, completing his work, and making the most of every opportunity to learn, Jerry continues to build the skills needed to succeed in math competitions.

2026 AMC 10/12 FREE PREPARATION WEBINAR SERIES
The AMC 10/12 are challenging national mathematics competitions designed to develop and enhance students’ problem-solving skills. This year’s contests will take place on November 5 (Contest A) and November 13 (Contest B).
To help students prepare, RSM Math Competition Preparation teachers are offering three FREE expert-led webinars focused on essential topics, problem-solving strategies, and time-saving techniques.

Aariv Khatri is an RSM math competition winner who has been part of the RSM community for 5 years. Through independent study, consistent practice, and dedication, Aariv has challenged himself in competitions including AMC 8, IMC, MOEMS M, and Math Kangaroo.

His advice to other students is simple: “Study consistently and try different practice tests to strengthen skills. Perseverance is key.”

From RSM to UC Berkeley
For Rushil Mohan, his RSM journey began in 4th grade and continued through 9th grade. Today, he is studying Industrial Engineering and Economics at the University of California, Berkeley, one of the world’s leading universities.

Rushil credits RSM with helping him develop something that reaches far beyond mathematics: the ability to solve problems. He believes that doing well in math is not necessarily about becoming a mathematician. It is about learning how to approach something difficult, keep trying, and find a way forward. Those skills, he says, carry over into every field.

His advice to current RSM students is a powerful reminder of that:

“As long as you tried, you'll become an effective problem solver.”

Rushil’s favorite part of RSM was not only the challenging mathematics, but also the teachers and friendships he made along the way. Many of those friendships have continued long after his RSM years.

He especially remembers Elina Pirovich, his favorite teacher, for being caring, encouraging, and making a lasting impact on his experience.

Today, Rushil is applying the problem-solving mindset he developed at RSM to a completely different set of challenges at Berkeley.
We are proud to see how far his journey has taken him and grateful that he continues to be part of the RSM family.
