⭐️ Welcome Lisa ⭐

We are so excited to welcome Lisa to the Lotus team! 🥳 Lisa brings over 13 years of experience in special education, including a decade in the classroom and several years in advocacy and consulting. She currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Bridgewater State University and is pursuing her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at Merrimack College. Her passion for helping families understand the special education process, use data to make informed decisions, and advocate effectively for their children aligns beautifully with our mission. We are incredibly grateful to have Lisa’s expertise, advocacy, and collaborative approach as part of our growing team! 🎉

ESY is to prevent that summer slide! 🛝

Don’t forget to ask your Team about ESY services. If this service was rejected, now is a great opportunity to collect data. 📈

See if you can gather some work samples or data NOW and then get some more data at the end of the summer to be able to see if there was any regression throughout the summer without services. ↘️

You can use this data next school year at your future IEP meetings to advocate for the need for ESY! ☀️

We know those in education have sacred summers so our sessions are 90 minutes each over 5 sessions jam packed with only the most essential topics to jumpstart your advocacy journey. ⏰

Is your student looking for extra support heading into summer? ☀️📚

We’re now booking 1:1 coaching sessions with Tailor, who specializes in helping students build confidence and strengthen skills in:

✨ Executive functioning (organization, focus, time management)
📚 Phonics & reading support
✏️ Writing
➗ Math

Tailor is also certified in Orton-Gillingham, a structured, evidence-based approach that supports students with reading and literacy challenges. Her coaching style is personalized, supportive, and designed to meet each student where they are.

Mon–Thurs • 5–8 PM (through June 18)

☀️ Summer Availability Begins June 29:
Mon–Fri • 9 AM–1 PM

How we spent our day before break…

Since opening in 2020, we have filed only 3 complaints on behalf of our clients. Our clients have submitted roughly 5 complaints independently. There are so many other ways to resolve disagreements and concerns. We never want to unnecessarily burden a school or the state. We would rather the time and resources go to the student. But, sometimes schools place barriers we cannot cross and refuse without collaboration. 📢

We are grateful that MA has a strong system of checks and balances compared to other states, but it is always disappointing when we need to resort to complaints. 📥

While schools head out for break, we continue our work. We will be spending the break reviewing IEPs, providing feedback to school clients, and writing observation reports. We will be sure to sprinkle in some down time - cozy winter naps and time with family. 😴
