What makes a family? 💛 This week, children are exploring the many kinds of families—at home, in our classroom and in the animal world. As they discover what makes each family unique and what we share, they’re building social and self-awareness skills. We’re also strengthening friendships through serve-and-return conversations: asking questions, listening and sharing ideas. What’s a favorite family conversation at your home?

This week, we're focusing on understanding feelings with the question, 'How do I feel?' 😊 Children are exploring emotions like fear, empathy, and embarrassment but may struggle to express them. By naming feelings, faces, and experiences, we help kids feel safe during big emotions. At home, try sharing your own emotions and how you manage them — it’s a great way to teach self-regulation. How do you help your child navigate their feelings? 💙

The thing about a Goddard preschooler is they’re going to be curious. Keep the questions coming 👏

Personally, we’d hire them as videographers 📹

Kindergarten readiness can show up in everyday moments, not just big milestones. A few signals to notice:

1. They’re building confidence to try things independently. Examples: walking into a room first, asking for help, or giving something new a try.

2. They’re starting to recognize the letters in their name, even if they’re not reading just yet.

3. They’re showing care and responsibility at home. This could include things like helping pack a bag, feeding a pet, putting away toys, or getting through part of their routine with a little more ease.

Every child grows at their own pace - and readiness looks different for every family. Their preschool teachers can be a great partner in noticing strengths, celebrating progress, and helping you think through what comes next.
