We wrapped up Red Ribbon week with PJ’s (YES! We all wore pajamas today!), prizes, and personal stories of resilience.
Students at MSAS were able to learn through personal journeys & testimonies shared by Walla Walla Valley local residents (and each other!) that explored more than just what drug addiction is. They learned about the importance of who you surround yourself with and how it plays a huge role in making choices that benefit your overall health.
There’s often an excessive level of shame attached to stories of addiction & recovery. It was a refreshing opportunity to have kindergarteners through grown-ups listening and actively engaged throughout the week, especially today in chapel with special guest, Georgia Hanson.
A few questions to consider & discuss with your family as the weekend approaches:
Who’s in your corner no matter what?
What are things you keep hidden because of fear of not being enough?
Why is it better to share your experiences with a loved one than face it alone?
When do you call for help?
How does your relationship with Jesus impact your life when it’s easy and when it’s difficult?
Of course it’s always good to check in with your kids and teens about how you can support them through their challenges. Reach out for support if you would like to be connected with resources here in the valley and beyond.
Together we can keep growing kids with Jesus. ♥️
