Catch Bay Area’s very own at the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco. She is leading the National tour. PnC shares in the joy of celebrating these young actors in their nomination for the Rita Moreno Awards; for Lead Actress (Ariel in Lincoln High’s production of Little Mermaid); Lead Actor (Marius at Mitty Production of Les Miserable); Luke Bonner Supporting Actor (Van Buren of Damn Yankees).

The Rita Moreno awards is a competition that recognizes outstanding achievement in high school musical theater. The Lead Actor and Actress winners will be sent to the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (NHSMTA) – also known as the Jimmy™ Awards – in New York City, where they’ll perform on a Broadway stage before industry experts and compete for scholarship opportunities. Congratulations to all the nominees!!! This organization is near and dear to PnC as our very own Jayden Hope Fernando was given the opportunity to serve as the Student Reporter in 2025, which then enabled her to compete in the National level Student Reporter at the Jimmy’s. PnC is one of many,many supporters /mentors of these young performers in their Performing Arts journey.

The character GavrocheWithin a decade, I have worked with 3 amazing young actors who played the role of Gavroche. I am very proud of each one of them and grateful for being a part of their individual journey in this massive show.
(1) Jack Fletcher in Mitty’s Production. I am looking forward to the wonderful works this talented young boy will be embarking! (2) CJ Fernando in CMT’s Production. Cj did a National tour for King and I in 2028-2019 . In the photo with CJ is Maya Drake who played Eponine and is now on National tour for Hell’s Kitchen. 3) Tonyboy Marin in Ram’s Stanford Production. Tonyboy was a swing in the Broadway production of King and I in NYC’s Lincoln theater.

Gavroche is such an iconic character played by a young boy in Les Miserables. This character is able to tug all the emotional strings - he is witty, a true crowd pleaser- and then just when you know, as part of the audience, that you are emotionally invested in this lovable character, Gavroche faces a tragic death in war. The silence that follows Gavroche’s senseless death reminds you of pure darkness.

Band is starting back up on March 7th through May 2nd at PnC Music Company Milpitas studio (1535 Landess Avenue Suite 100)

Band (Piano, Drums, Guitar, Ukulele, Bass)
Time: 12:15-1:45 (1.5 hours)
Age Range: 12 and up (ages 10 and 11 accepted based on recommendation)

Requirements for Band Students:
Must be enrolled with a private instructor on their selected instrument at PnC or some equivalent.

Guitar/keyboard players should be proficient in forming chords on their instrument and have a good sense of rhythm and time (probably true for all instruments especially drums).

Bass players should be familiar with notes on the neck and be able to perform simple bass lines incorporating at least the root, 5th and octave.

Drummers should be able to perform fundamental grooves such as a rock groove, a swing groove and possibly some Latin patterns such as bossa nova or cha-cha.
