Tori's Critters LLC A traveling, interactive animal education program. We care for 50+ animals (most are rescued). We specialize in the often misunderstood and unloved species.

We teach about proper pet care in captivity as well as conservation in the wild. We are a small animal educational service based in Millville NJ. We offer a wide variety of animal services, including hands on education for any event.

Hey guys!

Not the update I wanted to give about The Spot but here we go 😞

We have to move spaces for a while. There is a pretty severe leak above our space and every time they think they have fixed it, it gets worse 😬

So even though Joe and I are both feeling cruddy, we will be moving the space tomorrow.
It won’t be nearly as pretty, but we hope to still have it be as welcoming and shop-able as possible in the new layout.

I’m not sure how long this new space will last, but I hope you come see what we have and continue to help support the critters by shopping at our booth 🫶🏻

Our country is scary as heck right now for a lot of folks.

People are scared. People are tired. People are angry. People are hurting. People are fed up.

And there are a whole lot of really big problems that none of us little guys can fix by ourselves.

But here’s the thing…

We are ALL the little guys.

And little guys can still take care of other little guys.

Be kind to your neighbors.
Check in on your friends.
Stand up for people who are scared.
Volunteer in your community.
Help somebody when you can.
Listen to people whose lives look different from yours.
Try to understand before you judge.

When everything feels like it’s being torn apart, we can choose to hold each other together.

Go hug your pet.
Hug your kid.
Hug your friends.
Tell people you love them.
Check on the person who’s been unusually quiet.
Give someone a little grace.
Do something kind for a stranger for absolutely no reason.

You might not be able to fix the country today.

But you can make one person’s little corner of it feel safer.

And if enough little guys take care of enough other little guys… well, maybe that’s how things start changing.

Also, rabbits deserve unlimited snacks.

“Why are your animals so good for nail trims?!”

I get asked this pretty often because I can trim the nails on most of our animals with little to no drama.

Dogs, rabbit, ferrets, bearded dragon, parrot… even the cats if I need to.

And my secret is pretty simple:

I am CONSTANTLY messing with their feet 😂

Not just when it’s time for a nail trim

I touch their feet.

Hold their toes.

Gently press on their nails.

Rub their little toe beans.

Pick their feet up.

Basically just mildly annoy them on a regular basis 😂

Because if the only time you grab your animal’s feet is when something they dislike is about to happen, it doesn’t take long for them to learn:

🚨 HUMAN HAS TOUCHED FOOT. BAD THINGS ARE COMING

Instead, I want having their feet handled to be completely boring and normal.

So when the nail clippers come out? It’s really not that big of a deal.

Some are obviously easier than others. The dogs require a little Joe-powered cuddling 😂 and with Pongo I usually just do a nail or two at a time because… well… African Grey 🫠

But the dragon? Rabbit? Ferrets? SUPER easy!

You can use the same idea for lots of husbandry, too — gently getting animals comfortable with having their ears, mouths, feet, tails, etc handled before you actually need to examine them

The best time to get your pet comfortable with being handled for routine care is when you DON’T need to do routine care ❤️

Make it normal.

Make it boring.

And play with those little feets
