Welcome to the Bacon Bears Family, Mrs. Somers!

We are excited to welcome McKenzie Somers to Bacon Elementary as a Second Grade Teacher!

Mrs. Somers is a lifelong Millville resident and a proud former Mt. Pleasant Panther. She graduated from Millville High School in 2009 and earned her degree in Marketing from William Paterson University in 2014. After beginning her career in another field, she found her way to education and quickly realized that the classroom was where she was meant to be!

Mrs. Somers also has a passion for giving back to the community. She is involved with The Big Dog Project, a nonprofit focused on spreading kindness and supporting local children and families.

This year marks an exciting milestone as Mrs. Somers begins her first year in her own classroom! She is looking forward to meeting her second graders, building relationships with their families, and creating plenty of special memories along the way.

We are thrilled to have Mrs. Somers officially become a Bacon Bear and can’t wait for an amazing year ahead!

Welcome to the Bacon Bears Family, Mr. Keenan!

We are excited to welcome Jeremy Keenan to Bacon Elementary as a Kindergarten Paraprofessional!

Mr. Keenan brings several years of experience supporting young learners, including four years as a Kindergarten paraprofessional as well as experience as a substitute teacher and 1:1 paraprofessional. His patience, warmth, and commitment to helping students grow will make him a wonderful addition to our Kindergarten team.

Before beginning his career in education, Mr. Keenan spent more than a decade with the U.S. Postal Service as a substitute rural carrier, where he developed a strong appreciation for serving and building relationships within his community.

Outside of school, Mr. Keenan is an avid reader, movie buff, and gamer who loves a great story and hopes to write a novel of his own someday! He also enjoys walking, biking, swimming, kayaking, and listening to music, especially 80s and 90s rock.

We are excited to have Mr. Keenan join the Bacon Bears and can’t wait for our students and families to get to know him!

Welcome to the Bacon Family, Ms. Martinez!

RM Bacon is excited to welcome Ms. Kelsea Martinez, our new 4th Grade Language Arts and Math Teacher, to the Bacon family for the 2026–2027 school year!

Ms. Martinez is no stranger to Millville! A proud former Holly Heights Hawk, she grew up in Millville and graduated from Stockton University in May 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Childhood Studies.

Before joining Bacon full-time, Ms. Martinez worked as a substitute teacher and spent considerable time right here at RM Bacon, getting to know our students, staff, and school community.

She also participated in the Disney College Program, an experience that taught her the importance of creating meaningful experiences and lasting memories, and she is excited to bring a little of that Disney magic into her classroom!

We are thrilled to have Ms. Martinez joining our 4th grade team and look forward to an amazing year together!

Welcome to the Bacon Family, Ms. Spencer!

RM Bacon is excited to welcome Ms. Spencer, our new 3rd Grade Teacher, to the Bacon family for the 2026–2027 school year!

A lifelong South Jersey resident, Ms. Spencer is a graduate of Stockton University, where she earned her degree in Elementary Education.

Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking her dogs, reading, baking, and arts and crafts.

We are excited to have Ms. Spencer joining our 3rd grade team and can't wait for our students and families to get to know her!

Bacon Community,

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved second-grade teacher, Ms. Lori Swaim.

Lori was more than an exceptional educator. She was a caring colleague, a dedicated teacher, and a kind soul who touched the lives of countless students, families, and staff members throughout her years at RM Bacon Elementary School. Her love for children, commitment to education, and warm smile left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

The entire Bacon community mourns this tremendous loss. During this difficult time, we ask that you keep Lori's family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives she touched in your thoughts and prayers.

As a school family, we will continue to support one another as we grieve. We recognize that this news may be especially difficult for our students, and our staff will be prepared to provide comfort and support when needed.

As information regarding visitation and funeral services becomes available and is shared by Lori's family, we will communicate those details with our school community.

Thank you for keeping the Swaim family in your hearts during this incredibly difficult time. Lori's legacy of kindness, compassion, and dedication to children will forever remain a part of RM Bacon Elementary School.
