🎶 New school year. New energy. And everyone needs a walk-up song! 🎶

We decided to kick off the school year with a little fun! Our Woodside staff chose their walk-up songs and took their turn in the spotlight as we got ready to welcome our students back for another great year.

🐝🦋 Bug Bonanza at Woodside! 🦋🐝

It’s been a busy week for some of our smallest, but most important, Woodside residents!

🍯 The Middle School was buzzing with activity as students harvested honey from their hives as part of their beekeeping business, Icarus Apiaries. From caring for the bees to harvesting and bottling the honey, students get hands-on experience with ecology, entrepreneurship, and the important role pollinators play in our environment. And if you’d like to taste the results of their hard work, Icarus Apiaries honey will be for sale at Heritage Day!

💧🐛 Middle School students also headed into the field with the Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA) this week to conduct an EPA Habitat Assessment and benthic macroinvertebrate field study. By examining the tiny organisms living in and around our local waterways, students help gather information about ecosystem health while experiencing environmental science firsthand.

🦋 Meanwhile, Upper Elementary has some exciting new arrivals! After receiving a grant to create a pollinator garden, UE students have been watching the pollinator life cycle unfold right in front of them. Four monarch butterflies have emerged so far, with many more still on the way!

From bees and butterflies to the tiny creatures in our waterways, our students are learning that some of the smallest members of an ecosystem can teach us some very big lessons. 🌎💚

🌿✨ Welcome Back, Woodside! ✨🌿

The first day of school is here, and our classrooms are once again filled with curious minds, joyful hearts, and excited little voices! 💛

Our Montessori students are beginning a new year of discovery, growth, independence, and meaningful learning. Today marks the beginning of another wonderful journey—where children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, follow their interests, and learn at their own pace.

There is something so special about watching a child walk into the classroom with a little bit of nervousness, a lot of excitement, and the confidence to say, “I can do it myself!” 🌱

We are so excited for all that this school year will bring—new friendships, new challenges, new discoveries, and countless moments of growth.

Independence is at the heart of Montessori education!

As we head back to school we have one more Montessori Minute for you! Independence isn’t created by one lesson, one material, or one carefully prepared shelf. It is cultivated every day in the way we encourage children to think, create, express themselves, make choices, solve problems, and lead.For Montessori educators, this means knowing when to guide and when to step aside. Often, one of the first things people notice about a Montessori classroom is that children of different ages within the same developmental stage learn together. Rather than separating children by age alone, mixed-age classrooms create a community where collaboration, leadership, empathy, and confidence can grow. ☀️🛠️🌊 Summer Camp Adventures at Woodside Montessori Academy! 🌊🛠️☀️

Our campers have been busy learning, creating, and exploring through hands-on experiences! From building their own wooden toolboxes and personalized coat racks while practicing safe woodworking skills, to diving into the wonders of the ocean through science experiments, marine life discoveries, and fishing demonstrations, every day has been filled with curiosity and fun.
