Belonging and Inspiration thru Murals! 🎨🖌

Heather, a sophomore at Roosevelt High School, was able to speak with the Colorado Department of Education about her work at The Cottage Collective. A talented artist, Heather has been working on murals to contribute to mental well-being in public spaces as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award project.

Having grown up in Johnstown and attended Johnstown-Milliken schools from kindergarten through graduation, he now returns to support the next generation of learners. With 21 years of law enforcement experience spanning patrol, narcotics investigations, detective work, and school resource services, he brings both expertise and a personal connection to the community he calls home.

Thank you to the Town of Johnstown for this valued partnership to help create safe, supportive learning environments where students can belong, grow, and inspire.

In Weld RE-5J, we know that students thrive when they are present, connected, and engaged. Every school day is an opportunity to belong, grow, and inspire, which is why consistent attendance matters so much. Together, we can help every student make the most of each learning opportunity.

We hope to remind families about the Weld RE-5J attendance coding. When families call to let us know that your student will not be attending school, attendance will be marked as AC, or Absent with Communication. If we don't hear from families, attendance will be marked as AN, or Absent without Communication. We encourage families to let us know whenever a student will miss school. A legal guardian will be required to provide their name in order to communicate about attendance.

Every day matters, and we are here to support your students in all aspects of their educational journey!

Thanks from 5J: Special Roles. Special People. Special Start.

Every successful school year begins with a team of dedicated individuals working behind the scenes to make sure students arrive safely, classrooms are ready, questions are answered, meals are served, and families feel welcome. Sometimes, they're even there with a Band-Aid and a kind word when it's needed most.

Today, we're celebrating our custodians, bus drivers, front office staff, PTO volunteers, lunchroom teams, and all the countless helpers who make 5J shine.

Thank you for all you do. Your work may not always be in the spotlight, but it makes a difference every single day. The start of school wouldn't be the same without you. 📚🍎
