A question I get asked a lot is what career coaching/ consulting is and how it can support people. .
There are so many different ways career guidance and support has shown up in my work. Career coaching can be working 1-1 to develop the skills to advocate for yourself, return you to your strengths, and get paid your worth in oppressive and exploitative systems and workplaces. Career coaching can be a step towards breaking out of a field that hasn’t paid or valued you. Career coaching could be learning how to translate your talents and accomplishments to data and words. Career coaching could help with breaking intergenerational scarcity mindset and support you toward abundance. .
Overall… career coaching and support is part of a holistic practice of self and community care that centers economic freedom, healing, and abundance. In a world of statistics of unequal pay, abusive workplaces, and toxic managers- know that there is better out here for you. You deserve abundance. You deserve care. You’re not asking for too much. 💖

Have you heard of the four responses to trauma? Many folks are familiar with fight, flight, and freeze-- but the fawn response (also called appease or accomodate) is another very common response to violence and trauma.
Recognizing trauma responses in the workplace and in our communities can help us develop deeper and more intentional relationships and get curious about what's really going on within. Scroll through to see how trauma can show up in our staff, teams, and workplaces.

What is trauma and why does it matter in the workplace?.
A 2017 study found that 70% of people across 24 countries have experienced traumas, with an average of 3.2 traumatic events over the course of a lifetime. According to “COVID-19 has only intensified this alarming trend. In the US, the reported risk for post-traumatic stress – one of the major mental health issues related to trauma – is 83 percent higher than pre-pandemic levels."
All this to say- trauma is prevalent and impacts all of us. So naturally, trauma-informed care is critical to our workplaces, communities, and relationships overall. Stay tuned for our next post which will cover the four trauma responses and how they show up in the workplace..

happy Friday, everyone! Thank you for being here. I wanted to take some time to introduce myself for folks I haven’t yet met.💜.
My name is Yoo-Jin & I use she/hers pronouns. .
Here are a few things about me:
1. I am a First-Generation Immigrant & Graduate- so I know what it’s like to navigate complex systems & be completely confused! One time I emailed a professor and addressed her as “Mrs. ___” also- I didn’t know I could negotiate my first job offer out of college.🎓✨
2. My background is in violence prevention, crisis intervention & trauma-informed care- I analyze everything through these lenses in my work. 😌💞
3. I am a trained yoga teacher & Reiki I Healer- mind-body healing practices have been critical to me as a survivor and advocate. 📿🧘🏻‍♀️
4. I am an artist, musician, & avid cartoon-watcher- all three are critical to my self-care & inner child healing. 🐣💖.
Thank you for being here- I can’t wait to learn more about you. 😍

In line with this week's boundaries post, here are three affirmations to practice for in the . .
I am consistently working on my own boundaries practice and reminding myself that if I don't allow myself to fully say "no," I can't fully say yes! First and foremost- I say yes to myself. After working in so many roles where I experienced both burnout and secondary trauma, I had a hard time setting boundaries, especially with my clients who I cared about..
What I learned was that my sacred boundaries and clear communication helped me deepen my relationship with them AND helped mirror healthy behavior for them to practice with me. Win-win. .

happy Friday y’all 🌸.
A key theme that has come up in my coaching and personal work has been the concepts of 𝕤𝕔𝕒𝕣𝕔𝕚𝕥𝕪 versus abundance. 💐.
Scarcity mindset has been instilled in so many of us through the systems of capitalism, individualism, intergenerational trauma, and more. When we buy into the idea that there aren't enough resource for everyone, that in order to get our needs fulfilled, we must play small or step on others to reach the top, we reinforce systemic harm and generational curses.
when we are acting out of scarcity, we harm not only ourselves and our growth- we can also reinforce and harm others.
In contrast, abundance is a mindset, a habit system, and a way of life that reinforces generousity, resourcing for ALL. Abundance embodies the idea that there is more than enough room for all of us to thrive. Abundance helps us source the creativity and commitment to vision for systems to uplift all- not only a select few. 🌞✨.

Part 2 of 2 in moving towards & in our organizations. 💫.
It’s not enough to say people are welcome. It’s not enough to have good intentions. It’s not enough to read all the books if we aren’t practicing our values in real time. .
Communities built on equity, justice, and care showcase accountability, apologies, humility, trauma sensitive frameworks, the ability to slow down, and admit when we need help. .
