The mission of the Jenkins County FFA Chapter is to develop in our members their potential for premiere leadership, personal growth, and career success through Agricultural Education. To accomplish its mission, FFA:

*Develops competent and assertive agricultural leadership.
*Increases awareness of the global and technological importance of agriculture and its contribution to our well-being.
*Strengthens the confidence of agriculture students in themselves and their work.

This week in Ag, students worked on everything from aging jawbones and participating in FAT BEAR WEEK in Wildlife Management to wiring receptacles and lamps in Ag Mech 1. We finished up the week with a visit from our 4-H Agent, Lauren Johnson. Students enjoyed her visit and showed her how to operate the laser engraver while she was here!

We are incredibly proud of our FFA members who competed in the Floral Design and Meat Evaluation Career Development Events and represented Jenkins County with excellence!

🌸 Floral Design Contest

Students were challenged to design a floral arrangement and identify 20 cut flowers.

Jr. Division
• Millie Kate Burch — 1st Place 🥇
• Genna Rollins — 9th Place

Millie Kate’s 1st-place finish earns her the opportunity to advance to the State Contest at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in December!

Sr. Division
• Kami Brackin represented Jenkins County High School.

🥩 Meat Evaluation Contest

Students identified 20–25 retail meat cuts, placed 3 classes of retail cuts, and completed a quality and yield grade practicum.

The Junior and Senior Meat Evaluation teams will compete at the State Contest at the University of Georgia in November.

Mrs Burch’s 7th grade agriculture students recently put their knowledge of parliamentary procedure into action by conducting their own FFA business session! 📋

Students practiced making motions, discussing business, debating ideas, voting, and following proper parliamentary procedure—all while building valuable leadership, communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills.

It was exciting to see our students take on officer roles and confidently conduct business just like they would in a real FFA chapter meeting! 💙💛

Mark your calendars, Jenkins County FFA! Our year kicks off at Region Rally on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, GA! 🎉

✅ Community service projects ✅ Leadership activities with Area Officers ✅ Career Development Event ID contest ✅ Ag games & demonstrations ✅ Keynote speaker ✅ T-shirt + Chick-fil-A lunch included!

💵 Cost: $25 per member ($5 deposit due tomorrow to hold your spot!) ⚠️ Limited spots available — first come, first served!

🥫 We’re also collecting non-perishable food donations for the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank — top donors earn scholarship opportunities!

Mr. Bennett’s Ag Mechanics I class began learning basic electrical wiring skills this week! Today, they wired duplex receptacles and keyless lamp holders. Tomorrow they will work on wiring circuits with combinations of receptacles, lamps, and switches.
