David Treuer, author of the New York Times bestselling memoir The Heartbeat of Wounded Knee, is coming to Georgia College on October 24, 2019, as part of the Social Justice and Dialogue Series, co-sponsored by the College of Education, The Creative Writing Program, and The Department of English. His memoir, just named a National Book Award Finalist, mixes history, memoir, and reportage to create a sweeping history--and counter-narrative--of Native American life from the Wounded Knee massacre to the present.

Two Events free and open to the public on October 24th!

10-12:30pm, Peabody Auditorium: Workshop: “Writing Difference: Teaching and Writing in Modern America” (Register through link; lunch included)

5-7:30 pm, A & S Auditorium: Keynote Address and Reading: “Writing Indian Lives"
