On Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. about 100 GCSU students took advantage of a sunset yoga event hosted by the Wellness & Recreation Center.
The WRC hosted this event as a way for students to destress from recent midterms. This event also gave them a chance to relax, clear their minds, and refocus themselves for the week to come.
“I think that [outdoor exercise] helps with anxiety and depression,” says the event’s student instructor Amy Bishop, “Just take a minute to sit down and just focus on your breath and not about the stress of school, or any tests or family problems.”

Today, on October 7th, Georgia College’s Small Business Institute Class and Athletic Department partnered together for the start of a tie-dye shirt fundraiser on front campus from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the women’s soccer team.
Plain white t-shirts will be available for purchase and a separate station will be set up for students to dye the shirts themselves. This fundraiser will continue every following Tuesday and Thursday at the same time until supplies run out.
Business students are taking this as a good opportunity to further develop their organization, management, and teamworking skills.

With the start of fall comes the long awaited release of the drinks of the season, which is highly anticipated by students and local coffee shops alike with every new semester. Whether it be pumpkin spice, apple, or chai, most students can agree that they enjoy the warmth and comfort that comes from having a fall drink in hand.
“Sipping on a fall drink while on campus really makes me remember that there’s more than just the stress of class happening,” says freshman elementary education major Rhianna Jenkins, “even after studying, making that quick drive to 7 Brew or Starbucks, the coffee always hits differently. It’s like a little treat after being tortured with work.”

Officials have recently made changes to federal policy that has put international students under higher scrutiny through expanded vetting and mandatory social media screening.
These new policies have caused a multitude of problems for international students, such as visa delays, stricter monitoring, and unexpected denials. Due to these issues, many universities have begun to feel the effects of these stricter policies in their student enrollment.
Affected universities have expressed their concerns over how these policies will affect the broader economy as they continue to discourage international enrollment.

Governor Kemp announced the official opening of the first ever 24-hour veteran’s mental health facility in Milledgeville, Georgia, on Sept. 2, 2025. With the opening of the facility, Georgia has now become the first state to incorporate skilled nursing and mental and behavioral healthcare in a state operated veterans home.
Many local veteran families have insisted on the need for this facility for a long time now, so this announcement has brought many hope for the future mental health of their veteran relatives. “I heard that the Georgia War Veteran’s home recently opened and I think that it will do wonders for the many veterans who have fought for our country but are adjusting to normal life.” says senior education major Olivia Wind.
