Today we discovered "leaf tracks" in the snow. As the leaf absorbs sunlight, it gets warmer than the snow around and under it. As the snow under the leaf melts, gravity keeps the leaf close to the snow and the melting continues.

A thin covering of snow is perfect for discovering animal tracks. We guessed that the tiny prints belonged to a rabbit or a squirrel. Any guesses who the larger set belong to? Those tracks were spaced approximately 3 feet apart.
