🌟 A Piece of Millbrae History Returns Home 🌟

Join us as we celebrate the official unveiling of the historic Hamadryade Statue, a treasured landmark that has journeyed from the Mills Mansion (1870–1954) to the El Rancho Inn (1954–2026) and has now found its permanent home at the Millbrae Museum.

June marks a time of transition, reflection, and gratitude as we close one Rotary year and prepare for the next.💕

This week, our own Janet Fogarty was honored at the grand opening of SamTrans' new headquarters in Millbrae. While many know Janet as the outgoing President of the Millbrae Rotary Club, a former Mayor of Millbrae, and a current Board Member of the Millbrae Chamber of Commerce, she also played a historic role in regional transportation as one of the nine original members of the first SamTrans Board of Directors 50 years ago!✨

During the ceremony, Janet was recognized for her groundbreaking impact for the district, as she showed the audience a commemorative Golden Spike that draws inspiration from the famous Golden Spike used in 1869 to symbolize the completion of America's Transcontinental Railroad. For Janet, it represented another transportation milestone: her leadership in a hard-fought effort to preserve passenger rail service on the San Mateo County Peninsula, helping ensure that future generations would continue to benefit from public transit.🚌

The recognition was a fitting tribute to a lifetime of public service and community leadership. From local government and transportation policy to Rotary and countless civic causes, Janet has helped shape the Peninsula we know today.

On behalf of the Millbrae Rotary Club, thank you, Janet, for your dedication, vision, and enduring commitment to our community.🎊
