Friends of Mead & McMillan Wildlife Areas Mead Wildlife Area Official Website George W. Mead Wildlife Area is over 33,000 acres of public land; the state's largest wildlife area.

Located within the temperate zone, the Mead's five types of habitats are rich with biodiversity which makes the area a paradise for wildlife. In turn, this makes the Mead a delightful place for hikers, photographers, hunters, naturalists, botanists, bird watchers, trappers, and all explorers who are interested in the great bounty that nature in Wisconsin offers. Wisconsin Wildlife Areas are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; No pass needed, parking lots remain open across the property. Maps are available at the visitor center and kiosks located around the property. The visitor center, 201517 Cty Hwy S, has limited hours of operation, Tuesday-Friday, 9-4:00. On weekends, public programs are often occurring. Check out the events page on the Mead website for more information: https://www.meadwildlife.org/events.

Award-Winning Artisan Ice Cream Anyone?!?!

You must stop at the King Cone truck at the Mead Kite Festival, Saturday, Aug 22nd. My daughter would insist that you try the Zanzee Chocolate Bar. I always struggle deciding. Should I get the Smory Night, Salty Carmel Truffle, Chilled Cranberry Kiss, Chocolate Peanut Butter Ecstasy....?!? We'll have to wait to see what flavors they bring. Whatever you choose it is guaranteed to be be delicious!
