Today, we celebrate what would have been Maria Montessori's 153rd birthday. In her honor, we've published a new article on Montessori Life blog written by Charles Terranova. His open letter describes her life's accomplishments and ongoing legacy. We invite you to read the article and share it with your Montessori community.

Dear Maria Montessori,

Millions of people are walking the earth leading better lives of peace and fulfillment because you came along in 1870 and then later dared to pursue your dream to pierce the armor of a men only club that deprived women of the right to become medical doctors. Lesser humans might have stopped there, but you possessed the power of imagination. As we know, the power to imagine makes us infinite and you imagined a world at peace because you listened to what the child was telling you.

Hello mommies of Marin. I am a mother of twins. I have been teaching for 18 years. I am now opened my own child care home /preschool at my house and want to let you know that I am now accepting enrollment. Hello I am Solange, former teacher of 10+ years at Sparrow Creek Montessori School. I opened my own school, Solange's Montessori Preschool in Mill Valley, in 2020. I am teaching and loving children from 16 months to 5 years old. As all my parent’s will gladly vouch for, I specialize, among other things, in getting the children as self-sufficient as quickly as possible. Our daily routine is finding their next project, completing that project, and then completely cleaning up any sort of mess that project made. Now open enrollment for new students. School starts August 14/2023
