A huge thank you goes out to instructor Wendy Jensen. Students were treated to an incredible workshop, taught by a renown basket maker. Wendy is returning to the MRFS this coming Saturday, the 12th to teach again.
We had a recent cancellation, which means we have a couple of openings for this great workshop. If you're interested in participating in the 'Carry All Basket' workshop, please reach out to us via the website and we'll get back to you right away.

Back-to-Back Baskets

We have two amazing workshops coming up. We are so excited to have master basket maker Wendy Jensen teach at the MRFS. Wendy will be teaching her 'Carry All Basket with Leather Handles' workshop on Saturday, September 5, and again the following Saturday, September 12th.

Registration is closed for both of these workshops, but we did have a cancellation for the September 12th workshop. If you are interested in filling that available space, please reach out to me, Steve [email protected]

We are so excited to see our friend and neighbor Maggie Arian's dream come true. Maggie and her family have worked so hard to bring 'Maggie Mae's Kitchen' to fruition.

Such a welcomed addition to our community. Maggie's kitchen is next to the farm store at The Farm. My wife and I stopped by yesterday morning for a coffee and a breakfast sandwich. I might be a little biased, but it was so fresh and so tasty. If you live in the area make sure to stop in, you won't be disappointed.

Maggie will be providing an online menu for the MRFS, so folks taking workshops can place an order online and we'll pick it up. A great member of the community working with another.

Cash, my old black lab, enjoying exploring the banks of the Konkapot river. This 22 mile river flows through all of the five small villages that make up our town of New Marlborough. It's literally in our back yard. There's walking trails with access to the river all around us.

Make it a weekend. Come for a workshop, take a day hike along the Appalachian Trail, which is all around us, or do what Cash enjoys-exploring the river, taking a dip in it's cool waters, maybe grabbing a rainbow or brook trout out of it. Further down is Umpachene Falls, and even further is Campbell Falls, which we share with our Norfolk, CT neighbors. Learn all about our Indigenous history, while exploring the area.

The river is named after Chief Konkapot. Believed to have been born in 1690 and raised along the Hudson River, Konkapot was a courageous and cool-headed leader of the Mohican people.

I hope you'll come for a visit, There's plenty of room. Many of our village folk have wonderful rooms to let, or B & B's. There's plenty of places to stay.

What an amazing workshop today. Instructor Rachel Barclay taught a full class the basics of Sashiko hand-stitching, and the results were fabulous! Students not only learned the technical aspects of Sashiko stitching but also learned the meaning behind the symbols used.
Her knowledge of the medium is extensive, no wonder her teaching schedule is full.
We are very fortunate to have Rachel back to teach a second workshop on October 24th.
This workshop is nearly full, with only two spots remaining.

Sashiko

Our upcoming Sashiko Hand-Stitching Basics workshop with Rachel Barclay is full, but there's a few spots still available for the October workshop.

Sashiko is a Japanese mending and embroidery handwork skill which uses a simple running stitch to create bold and geometric patterns on textiles. The stitching tradition has been used for centuries in Japan, and continues globally, as a contemporary needlework practice to mend, patch, strengthen, quilt, and embellish garments or home goods for longevity and beauty.

Thank you to all who came out to our first house concert. It was a warm evening but that added to the Delta Blues environment that was going on inside. David Reed was fantastic, playing songs on the banjo, harmonica, the cigar box guitar, and even a conch shell.
