From the OYBA Board to all of the OYBA parents.

A big thanks to all of you for all of the help you gave to help make for 2 hugely successful tournaments. We appreciate your willingness to help and make this happen. Your flexibility when things change was so appreciated!! Every donation and volunteer hour given helps to make this a success.

Seeing the kids play and push themselves to become the best they can be is what makes all of the time and energy put into these tournaments worth it. Your kids Rock!! So fun to see the smiles on their faces, and a few tears!!

Thanks again and we hope to see you around next year!!

Something about this tournament brings on the ❄️! The youth tournament will STILL happen tomorrow but with a 2 hour delay- all times will be moved 2 hours later- games and volunteer shifts! With the change and weather we are REALLY needing extra help, donations and could use an 8th grade team! Please sign up below or let us know if you could help or know of a team that would like to attend. This tournament takes so many hands- we appreciate all of you!!

Thanks for all of the help during the Boys tournament yesterday. Without your help we would not be able to pull it off. It was a really fun day seeing our teams compete and seeing the players work their tails off. We are very proud of the work they put in and the ability to show it on the court!!

We will be needing your help for the upcoming Girls Tournament this Saturday January 15.

If you have not received the schedule yet, this is when the teams will be playing.

Girls:
4th will be in the morning.
5th will be in the afternoon.
6th will be in the morning.
7th will be in the afternoon.
8th will be in the morning.

Please sign up for a time that works when your child is not playing. If your child has already played, please find a time that works for you. Every slot filled helps get the job done!!

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone is having a great Holiday season!! In one week we will be having our Boys tournament. We still have many opportunities for you to contribute.

Below is information relating to our upcoming Boys basketball tournament which will be on January 8. The assistance you provide makes the OYBA feasible and possible. Signup has been slow and we would encourage you to sign up sooner rather than later, to help make this happen.

For the boys parents who are able to help during the boys tournament, here is the proposed schedule that day. Hopefully this will allow you to schedule when you can help out around your child's games.

Boys:
5th will be in the morning.
4th will be in the afternoon.
6th will be in the morning.
7th will be in the afternoon.
8th will be spread out throughout the day.

For the girls' parents, we encourage you to help out during the boys tournament, and then the boys' parents will reciprocate the favor during the girls tournament which takes place January 15. If you are able to help out at both tournaments we appreciate the extra help!!

Donations are also needed for the event! Please see the previous on our page to sign up for workers shifts! As a reminder, it is very helpful if the GIRLS parents work the BOYS tournament as many of them were very helpful in returning the favor during the girls tournament! The proceeds from these tournaments benefit our entire basketball program (OHS Boys and Girls AND OYBA) - thank you so much for helping out!

Please drop off your items at the high school by 6:45 am on Saturday, March 27th.  PLEASE NOTE: Lakes News Shopper and the OHS office cannot accept Gatorade, water, and other donations prior to the tournament.  We need all items in order to be ready to operate by 7:45 am on that Saturday morning ...

Dear OYBA Parents,

A huge thanks to everyone who gave through their time and donations to the Girls basketball tournament yesterday. Without the continued support we would not be able to have the great association that we have.

Thanks for the ongoing support you give to your child. We love seeing all of the girls running their hearts out on the court and giving their all. Seeing teammates cheering and encouraging their teammates through the hard times and the good. Observing unselfish play and a drive to make their team better. Battling with an opponent to hold them from scoring. Racing down the court for the outlet pass. Showing compassion to an opponent. This is what makes all of the time and effort put into the OYBA association worth it.

The 1️⃣3️⃣th Okoboji Challenge is underway! 35 teams are participating along with 6 Okoboji teams! Come on out and support these girls - 🏀 they are the future of Okoboji basketball!

As you have all heard by now of the governors mandate, the mandate impacts the OYBA teams. Until December 11 there will not be any OYBA activities, including both practices and tournaments. All gym usage is not allowed for any size of group associated with the OYBA until we get the go ahead from the school.

As things change we will be in communication as we move forward through these times. Thanks for your understanding!

A HUGE THANK YOU to all of our teams and volunteers for making the weekend's Okoboji Challenge a reality! We battled the weather all weekend but were still able to have 31 teams play basketball yesterday! Couldn't make it happen without all of our AWESOME volunteers - thanks so much!
