Always great to see news of Okoboji alumni Pioneering their Pathways beyond graduation! Also love to see them sharing their knowledge and experience with others! Way to go William Alexander!

William Alexander grew up in Okoboji working for his parents' manufacturing sourcing company — the kind of hands-on, back-office work that gave him a front-row seat to how much repetitive, error-prone admin eats into a factory's day. He took that experience to Stanford, studied economics and computer science, and co-founded Arzana, a Y Combinator-backed startup building AI tools that automate quoting, order entry, and invoicing for manufacturers across the country.

This year, he's back where it started — this time as a speaker for the Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute . It's a full-circle moment with a hometown kid who left to build in Silicon Valley, returning to teach the next class of student entrepreneurs what he's learned about AI, manufacturing and building a company from scratch.

We are now just hours away from the opening day of the 2026-2027 school year Okoboji High School. We anticipate the start of the new year with great excitement and also think about the outstanding graduating class of 2026. Many of these graduates will be taking significant steps in their own pathways tomorrow and as they do we’d like to remind them of the words Mr Downing used to close their graduation ceremony last May.

“You are ready. You are ready to take on your next adventure whatever it might be. You are ready to make daily choices to build and live lives of significance. You are ready to Pioneer your Pathway. And we will be right here, cheering you on every step of the way.”

We continue to be proud of you and wish you all the best as you take these next steps!

For any students interested in being a part of our Fall Musical:

Mamma Mia Auditions are coming up and we are SO EXCITED to see you all again for another AWESOME musical season!! We wanted to get the word out that we will be having our parent meeting on August 24th at 6:00pm in the Choir Room at Okoboji MIDDLE School

We will have auditions on Wednesday and Thursday August 26th and 27th after school in the OMS choir room. There will be a sign up hanging outside the high school band room to sign up for a time as well as work groups, and get your audition packets there too!

OHS students we need your help! If you are available and would be willing to come and help us move furniture into classrooms, we will award DOUBLE SILVER CORD HOURS! We will be working on it today until 4 PM and again tomorrow from 8 AM to 4 PM. If you can come and help any of that time, just stop in the high school office to check in and they’ll get you where you need to go! No experience or equipment necessary!

Things won’t be perfect and we will definitely have to be flexible this year, but the building is getting very close to being ready for our students to return.

When they arrive, they will be greeted with several brand new classrooms, as well as many more that have been significantly renovated and upgraded!!

Our teachers will be back tomorrow and we will be moving lots of furniture and materials back into classrooms!

Now, if we could just get John McClane out of that air duct.
