Balanced meals matter more in early childhood than at almost any other stage of life.

The right mix of protein, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and dairy fuels the rapid brain and body development happening in these first years, and it shapes the eating habits our students carry into adulthood. Every plate we serve is planned with both goals in mind.

Play kitchens, baby dolls, and make-believe grocery runs are steady favorites at GCDC, and there's real learning happening under the fun.

Home living pretend play helps children process what they see in their own homes, practice caregiving language, and rehearse the social scripts they'll use for years.

Our September theme is All About Me, a chance for every student to look closely at what makes them uniquely them.

Self portraits, family photos, favorite things, and personal stories all become part of the classroom conversation, giving children the language to notice and appreciate themselves while building an early sense of identity.

Our students have been building elaborate worlds lately with magnet tiles and animal figures, part enclosure, part habitat, entirely their own design. Open ended materials like these support spatial reasoning, early engineering skills, and the storytelling that gives structures a real purpose. It's problem solving and imagination working hand in hand.

Green Choices is our way of recognizing the small everyday moments of kindness, cooperation, and self control that shape our classrooms. Positive reinforcement at this age helps children internalize what it feels like to make a caring choice, and to see themselves as capable of doing so again.

Outside time has looked especially good this season, with tricycle laps, obstacle cones, and long stretches at the sand box. Each activity pulls on something different, whether it's the gross motor coordination of pedaling and steering or the sensory exploration of scooping and pouring. Fresh air, movement, and open ended play remain some of the most powerful ingredients in early childhood learning.

Our great room offers the open space our kids need to move, wander, and try new things. Wheeled toys, ball games, and room to walk without limits all support gross motor development, balance, and the growing independence that comes with confident movement. Sometimes the best early learning happens in a wide open space.
