Courageous Steps is a licensed MaineCare Section 28 provider and works with local schools and Child Development Services (CDS) to deliver services at no cost.

We are able to support children ages 2 to 5 years old with:

• Learning & Academic Readiness
• Play Skills
• Physical & Motor Development

We are pleased to announce that Camden National Bank has been collecting supplies for our 13th annual Back-To-School program. They have collected supplies at fifteen (that's right, 15) locations in Eastern and Downeast Maine. We could not be more grateful for their support and generosity in supporting our local children/students.

In total, we've had nearly 4 dozen (48) collection sites across the region, making this one of the largest regional back-to-school efforts in Maine.

There is still time to donate supplies at one of our many locations across the region. If you need help finding a location, please message us. 💙💚🎒🏫

Summer at the Step Forward Center has FLOWN by. We can't believe tomorrow is the last day of our summer session. It's been a hot summer, but one full of smiles and memories created! ☀️😎

As always, we want to thank our families for your trust in us as we aim to create an environment and space where all children grow, thrive, and succeed together. Summer is nice because we are able to welcome new and familiar faces back.

For the children and families heading back to school, or moving on, thank you for sharing your kids with us. It means the world that we got to serve you!

Today is a big day for our organization!

Educators who are looking for mini grants for your classroom or school projects, you have until tonight at 11:59pm to submit your applications. We expect to have decisions out by mid month.

We are also kicking off our 13th annual back-to-school campaign with Bangor Federal at noon today with Darling's Ice Cream for a Cause. Catch us LIVE with WABI TV5 at noon from Bangor Federal's Hogan Road location and help us make this year a banner year for children heading back to school in this region!

The Power of our Community is in full swing! 💚

Today, our Founder & Chairman/CEO Connor Archer went to drop off collected supplies at the Cole Land Transportation Museum to fill up the jeeps in their lobby. They will be collecting supplies with us through August 21st.

In addition, Connor stopped to grab a donation of school supplies from Husson University President Lynne Coy-Ogan. We would like to thank her for her generous donation of school supplies and commitment to our local children.

We'd also like to thank one of our own team members, Mackenzie Hartery, for her generous donation of notebooks, crayons, and other supplies.

We are also pleased to announce that Camden National Bank at their Bangor Exchange Street Branch has just joined on to collect supplies.

With that announcement, we are up to 22 locations collecting (and counting). This year so far has blown away other years, and we couldn't be more thankful. So if you can donate supplies, or make a monetary donation for children in need, please do so.

With your support, no child will have to choose between food on the table, and school supplies to grow, thrive, and succeed.

Starting today, July 27th and running until Friday, August 21st, all Bangor Federal Credit Union locations will act as drop-off points to aid the The Courageous Steps Project in collecting, organizing, and distributing back-to-school supplies to area schools.

Both the Courageous Steps Project and Bangor Federal Credit Union humbly ask our community to help us set our area students up for success as they return to the classroom by donating much needed school supplies to any one of Bangor Federal Credit Union’s locations in Bangor, Brewer, or Ellsworth. Monetary donations will also be accepted to aid in the purchase of supplies from local retailers.
