The Crab Nebula is from a Star that went supernova in 1054AD and lit up the sky day and and night for a month. There’s a neutron Star at its center that spins 30 times per second!

The Andomeda Galaxy can be seen at night without a telescope and astronomers have written about this since the 900’s. This is the closest galaxy to us which makes imaging it pretty easy.

Here are my first pictures of the Iris nebula, and the fireworks galaxy. I took these with my new Celestron Origin 6 inch RASA telescope. 817 10 second exposure images (Iris nebula), and 317 10 second exposure images (fireworks galaxy), which took me about 3 hours. I wanted to shoot longer but it got cloudy here in Michigan. -Nicholas

Today was the launch of the Europa Clipper mission to the biggest planet in the solar system, Jupiter. The probe will take about 5 and a half years to get there, and will study the moon Europa which may have life in its ocean below its icy surface. Due to being stretched out by Jupiters strong gravity, heat is created due to friction which will warm up its ocean. Here is a video of the launch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUpEEU7pplg

How I got interested in space:
It all started in 3rd grade when my brother Alex did a book report on Neil Armstrong. My dad put on a documentary on Apollo 11 (first manned lunar landing), and I was so interested in it. I had so many questions too
My favorite part of space exploration is probably the preparation or a rocket, and the launching. Now, since I am really into making model rockets, I love when it's time for launch.
Now, as a hobby, I love making rocket engines, and testing them. It's maybe one of the most fun part of the making of a model rocket, But lots of people don't understand how they work. So, there are two parts of the solid rocket fuel in a rocket engine. What you need is a fuel that will burn only with an oxidizer. In my case, I use potassium nitrate, and table sugar. The potassium nitrate is the actual fuel, and the table sugar is the oxidizer that helps the potassium nitrate burn (everything needs oxygen to burn). As you can see in the photo below, there is a solid rocket engine. You maybe noticed the hole going though the middle of the rocket engine, but his hold helps the fuel burn evenly, creating thrust to help push it up. A liquid rocket engine is kind of the same, but the fuel and the oxidizer are separated so you can control the throttle, which you can't do on a solid engine.
