BLS (Basic Life Support) is built for healthcare providers and clinical settings, with a faster compression-to-breath ratio and two-rescuer scenarios. Heartsaver is designed for everyone else — teachers, coaches, daycare staff, and the general public — with the same core skills taught at a more approachable pace.

If you see a teen or adult suddenly collapse, hands-only CPR can keep them alive until help arrives — and it's easier to remember than you think.

Step 1: Call 911 (or send someone to call). Step 2: Push hard and fast in the center of the chest, about 100–120 beats a minute — the tempo of "Stayin' Alive." No rescue breaths required. Don't be afraid to push hard; doing something is always better than doing nothing.
