Milan Young Adult Program

Today was one of our favorite days of the year! ❤️ We made our annual trip to Old Town Golf & Sportsland, and once again, they did not disappoint!

This has become a special tradition for our program because we absolutely LOVE spending the day there. The staff are always so incredibly kind and welcoming to our students. They take us on golf cart rides, make us feel so special, and help create a day that our students look forward to every year.

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to be outside, enjoying the sunshine, spending time together, and making memories.

A huge THANK YOU to Old Town Golf & Sportsland for continuing to welcome our program with such kindness and generosity. We are already looking forward to next year! 🏌️‍♂️⛳️

Today, our young adults practiced preparing a group meal together! Our menu included hot dogs, burgers, macaroni and cheese, fruit salad, and Caesar salad. 🌭🍔🥗🍎

While cooking, we learned and practiced important kitchen and life skills, including:
🔪 Knife skills
🧼 Preventing cross-contamination
🔥 Fire safety in the kitchen
🛡️ General kitchen safety
🍽️ Working together to prepare a meal

Once everything was ready, we all sat down together to enjoy the meal we prepared! We practiced table manners, social skills, and enjoying a meal together as a group. ❤️

Another great day of building independence and learning skills we can use in everyday life! 🌟

Yesterday we celebrated Samantha’s graduation, and my heart is so full. 🎓✨

Seeing how far she has come over the years has been such an honor. She has worked so hard for this moment, and she truly deserves all the love and celebration she received.

So proud of you, Samantha. The world is lucky to have you in it, and I know you’re going to continue doing amazing things. 🖤❤️

Sunshine, smiles, and just enough animal chaos to match our Young Adult crew 🦒☀️🦁

Our annual Toledo Zoo trip was a wild success (literally). Perfect weather, great company, and memories made!

This trip never gets old — already counting down to next year!

Today, our Young Adult Program students put independence into action! 🚌✨

We spent the day in Ann Arbor practicing real-life community and independent living skills by using TheRide public transportation system. Students learned how to read the bus schedule, plan routes, identify pick-up and drop-off times, purchase bus fare, and successfully use their day passes.

Once we arrived at Arborland, students practiced financial literacy skills by working on budgeting, identifying wants vs. needs, and making thoughtful purchasing decisions in the community.

These hands-on experiences are such an important part of building confidence, self-sufficiency, and preparing for everyday adult life. We are so proud of their hard work, responsibility, and growth! 👏
