🌙 ANOTHER NEW SPORT PILOT OPTION: NIGHT FLYING.

MOSAIC created a path for sport pilots to fly at night after completing the required night training and receiving an instructor endorsement. Night operations also require an FAA medical certificate or qualification under BasicMed.

It’s an additional privilege, with additional requirements—and one more way the Sport Pilot Certificate can grow with you.

Ready to start with the fundamentals? Ask Fly Around Arkansas about training in our Tecnam aircraft.

🛩️ SPORT PILOT CAN MEAN MORE AIRPLANE OPTIONS.

Under the new rules, sport pilots are no longer limited to airplanes that fit the old light-sport aircraft definition. An eligible airplane may have up to four seats—although a sport pilot may still carry only one passenger.

The airplane must meet the FAA’s performance and design requirements, and some aircraft features require extra training and endorsements.

MOSAIC has opened more doors for recreational flying. Let Fly Around Arkansas help you understand where a Sport Pilot Certificate can take you.

💵 LET’S TALK ABOUT FLIGHT TRAINING COST.

Sport pilot requires a minimum of 20 flight hours in a single-engine airplane. Part 61 private pilot requires a minimum of 40.

Here’s a simple illustration: at a hypothetical $300 per flight hour, 20 fewer hours would represent $6,000 in flight-hour costs. That is an example, not a savings quote—aircraft, instructor, testing, and other costs vary, and many students need more than the FAA minimum.

Want numbers for your training plan? Message Fly Around Arkansas and ask about our Sport Pilot program.

Time to Certificate

⏱️ HOW SOON COULD YOU BE FLYING?

For a single-engine airplane, the FAA minimum is 20 flight hours for a Sport Pilot Certificate. The Part 61 minimum for a Private Pilot Certificate is 40 flight hours.

That makes sport pilot an appealing path if your goal is recreational flying. Your actual training time depends on your progress, how often you fly, weather, and checkride availability—but the lower minimum gives you a shorter starting path.

Come train with Fly Around Arkansas in our Tecnam aircraft. Send us a message to discuss a training schedule that fits your goals.

So Noah returned home, finished his training at Fly Around Alaska, and passed his checkride! 🎉

We’re proud of the work Noah put in at both schools. Having locations in Arkansas and Alaska gave him the flexibility to adjust his training plan and keep moving toward his goal.
