A big thanks goes out to Zions Bank for choosing Midvale Elementary, along with other local schools, for their annual Paint-a-Thon project. At Midvale Elementary, Zions Bank employees and their families brightened up the gym, making the space more warm and inviting for students. They also repainted playground lines, washed lost and found clothing, and had a wonderful sign made for our new Family Resource Center. We can't thank them enough for their investment in our school community!

Imagine being fluent in more than one language at such an early age! Knowing multiple languages can enhance memory, multitasking, and problem-solving skills, leading to higher academic achievement, and can open up career opportunities. We celebrated these Midvale Mustangs for their English proficiency. We love our diverse and multilingual community!

While the biggest prize of all for great attendance is the learning and growth that happens for students, these students also earned other amazing prizes for making sure they were in school, on time, every day. A new scooter? Yes, please!
With a community-wide focus on ensuring that students are attending and participating in school, we hope to create a culture of showing up, lifting each other up, and making every school day count! Join us in celebrating these attendance champions! 👏👏👏

Our last CEO (Chief Example for Others) Awards of this school year focused on the character trait of service. These Midvale Mustangs consistently demonstrated service to others. What a wonderful trait to embrace! Thank you, Midvale Mustangs, for your service!

Hillcrest's Latinos in Action students have been phenomenal supports in 1st grade classrooms and 2nd grade Brain Booster classrooms this year. For their final day visiting our school, we asked the Hillcrest Seniors to show up in caps and gowns so we could celebrate them. Our students made posters and gave high fives and hugs to these high school students who have built relationships with them over the year. We are so proud of these students, especially the two Midvale Mustang alumni in the group! Once a Mustang, always a Mustang....congratulations, Hillcrest High School Graduates! Hillcrest Huskies

It's amazing how a new haircut can make you feel! Our community barbers were back again for two Tuesdays in May to provide free haircuts to kids whose parents signed them up! Steve, Edwin, Alysia, and Violet donated their services and provided at least 70 haircuts, along with lots of high fives and some good music! Even Maestro Hernandez took advantage of the opportunity during his lunch break to try out a new fade. A big thanks goes out to our community barbers for supporting our kids and familiies (and teachers!)!

When we learned that our 3rd graders were writing letters to the Midvale Mayor as a part of their lessons on communities, we thought we had better invite Mayor Dustin Gettel to classrooms to hear what his constituents had to say! Mayor Gettel visited 3rd grade classrooms, listened to students reading their letters, answered questions, and demonstrated using his large "mayoral" scissors for an impromptu ribbon cutting ceremony. Thank you, Mayor Gettel, for spending part of your day with us and for listening to what our students had to say!

On a Friday in April, Midvale Elementary received some very special visitors. We hosted volunteers from Risen Life Church and the Send Relief North American Mission Board who chose our school to support this year! Their projects included:
-Provided and set up a picnic table in a front courtyard for staff to enjoy the outdoors during their lunch breaks.
-Moved our Family Learning Center and set up a new Family Resource Center with shelving, clothing, food, and more.
-Provided a welcome sign in many world languages.
-Provided items for a staff wellness room.
-Provided portable sensory pathways for students to use.
-Fixed and re-painted our ga-ga ball pits.
We are so grateful to our community for supporting our staff, students, families, and school!
