Highly recommend https://EasyVirtualChoir.com, super easy to use, and it is FREE! The software aligns audio/video tracks automatically and generates virtual choir videos instantly. Users have created videos for choir, musical instruments, virtual rehearsal, online music teaching, sing-along, choir dance, singing with sign language, remote PE, skit etc., or simply for fun with friends and family. Educators have used it to integrate music, teacher instruction and student participation into one video. It’s a great visualization tool and virtual platform combined, a versatile app that can be used in various ways. The entire process is easy enough that even kindergartners and 1st graders can figure out how to add their recordings to the virtual choir. Most teachers have got a video created after just one class period. It’s a fun way for teachers to engage remote students and provide timely feedback. Kids are excited to participate in the recordings and see themselves in the generated video. Online music classes have become so much easier with this software, which has made teachers thrilled, students delighted, and parents pleased. Hope this free service will be helpful to your students too!

This looks like a good primer for the upcoming school year. Thanks, Millwood School!
What a wonderful story from Millwood School! We've discovered firsthand that having the boys learn from home is an incredible challenge. Seeing these Kindergarteners (yes, I had to remind myself that they are Kindergarteners!) thrive with their teacher still driving them to new discoveries gives me hope. WTVR CBS 6 News

Students experienced how the tools they have learned about in their design classes are used by engineers and researchers to solve real world problems. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the ODU Virginia Modeling, Analysis & Simulation Center - VMASC in the future!

Millwood School Drama classes are proud to present our Middle School and Upper School drama performances on December 8 and 9, at the Perkinson Center for the Arts and Education.

Our first performance of each night will be 10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse, written by Don Zolidis. Audiences are sure to laugh at the middle school's informative performance of 10 sure-fire ways to survive the inevitable upcoming zombie apocalypse, including running, fighting, and training genetically modified zombie-killing dogs.

After a brief intermission, the upper school drama class will take the stage performing Alice in Wonderland, written by Lewis Carroll and adapted by William Glennon. In this version of the classic tale, performers are discouraged when they cannot find an Alice for their play. When they find a random girl backstage, they do all that they can to push her into their story.

10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse & Alice in Wonderland
Thursday, December 8 & Friday, December 9
7:00 pm
at the Perkinson Center
Ticket Prices:
Adult - $10 (plus fees)

This morning during our Middle & Upper School MMM, we had a few special announcements including an update on the Mike Hubbard $10,000 Merit Scholarship open to current 8th grade students. Mr. Ryan presented class rings to two of our juniors, Ro Gregory and Caitlyn Gordon, Class of 2024. Next up was our "Millwood Kindness Challenge" which offered submissions of kindness from several of our students. Finishing out the meeting were Mme Ryan's French students talking about the World Cup and its celebrations.

A special shoutout to Mr. Horsington and the Cross Country team for making it to states highlighted by 7th grader Laila Cober - finishing 10th overall. Way to go! Have a great Spirit Week Millwood!

Today, Sunday, November 13 is World Kindness Day.

Throughout this past week, students learned all about kindness. The middle and upper school did a lesson during their Monday morning advisory meeting where they brainstormed ways to spread kindness.

They followed this lesson up during Wednesday afternoon's advisory with a book called "Be Kind" by Pat Zietlow Miller and Jen Hill, a community-building activity making cards to be delivered to the VA Hospital Dialysis Dialysis Center, and a "Kindness Challenge" to share pictures and videos of each other being kind. Here are a few examples of students' pictures and videos. Enjoy!

This past week, junior kindergarten through 3rd grade students were thrilled to have the opportunity to watch a special presentation by the Virginia Repertory Theatre's Tiny Tales Program called "How to Fill My Bucket". This program supports early literacy learning, social and emotional expression and language development skills.

Earlier today, select faculty and staff took to the court in Robinson Hall against the Girls' Varsity Volleyball team. There was a huge crowd in attendance with supporters on both sides. While the teachers gave forth a valiant effort, it was the superiority in skill and offensive attack that sealed the victory for the students who took the game in 3 close sets.

Good morning Millwood Community! The lower school continues to be busy with kindness activities this week. Here we have Ms. Epps' Junior Kindergarten class working alongside Mrs. Holtz as they built a kindness tower! She also did a story on kindness, talked about how we can be kind in class, and how we can be kind at home. ☺️

Art students in 4th and 5th grade created cards for Brandermill Woods residents. The cards help celebrate "World Kindness Day" on November 13th. Along with brightly colored designs, students added a personal note to the receiver of their card. These kind notes will certainly brighten many residents' day!

3rd grade artists are in the midst of creating a "Waving Flag" in celebration of Veterans Day. Although the red, white, and blue are still to come, students are thinking about our Veterans and can't wait to share the flag finish!

Today, Middle and Upper School took part in our annual "Service Day”. Students and teachers worked around campus cleaning up as well as constructing steps, weeding garden beds, sweeping away leaves on the outdoor trail, and beautifying much of our school grounds. What a wonderful day to be with each other outdoors while doing something good for our community. Go Bobcats!

This past week 2nd and 8th graders had some fun completing a challenge to "Saving Sam", our beloved gummy worm whose boat capsized and lost his life vest (gummy lifesaver). They had to successfully place Sam, wearing his life vest back in the boat (cup) all without touching Sam. They had two paper clips to use only. It was a great way to show teamwork!

Yesterday afternoon, Millwood’s enthusiastic faculty and staff took on the Boys’ Soccer team in its 2nd annual Millwood Cup competition. The camaraderie between the two teams was commendable and everyone walked away without injury - well the students did at least!

Millwood’s Boys' Soccer team evened the overall match-up by taking down the faculty/staff by the score of 4-0. Everyone played hard and had fun which was the main goal of the afternoon’s activity. Who will take the overall tiebreaker next year? Stay tuned! (Photos Credit: Sophia Calbreath, 9th Grade)
