The spirit of giving is alive and well in Central VA - and it’s being led by neighbors of all ages! Since 2012, young hunger-fighter Austin Smoyer has spent every December rallying his friends, neighbors, and family to collect nonperishable food for neighbors who don't have enough to eat during the holidays. That’s impressive, given that he started the annual food drive when he was only two years old! With the help of his community and loved ones, he gathers every last donation in his big red wagon and brings the impressive hauls straight to Feed More. And over the years, this tradition has brought in an impressive 19,000+ pounds of food for those in need. And ahead of Austin's holiday donation next week, he recently visited his youngest sister’s school, REDS Redeemer Episcopal Day School to encourage students to join the effort and support neighbors facing hunger. We are still beaming from our very first whole school Grandparents' Day! This event truly exceeded our expectations. Over the past two days, we welcomed nearly 200 grandparents/special friends into our school. REDS has always been blessed with wonderful grandparent involvement, but this event truly solidified the incredible support and love our grandparents bring to our community. ❤ Seeing the smiles, connections, and shared moments made this celebration unforgettable! 🥰

Our first-ever Fore the Future: The REDS Classic was a huge success! ⛳️ We loved seeing our community come together in support of REDS, with nearly 100 participants joining us to celebrate our growing school and upcoming middle grades expansion.
Thank you to everyone who played, sponsored, and cheered us on — we can’t wait to do it again next fall! ❤️

At REDS, service will be a cornerstone of our new Middle School. Students will live their values through action, building community with purpose.

Yesterday we were thrilled to host close to ✨60 early childhood educators✨ at our Lunch and Learn series. As part of our commitment to helping all schools offer high-quality programs, we began this initiative last year to support educators with meaningful professional development opportunities.

Our presentation, 🌳The Great Outdoors: Supporting Learning, Health and Joy in Preschoolers,🌳 highlighted the powerful role outdoor experiences play in young children’s development. Mrs. Zambito and Mrs. McGowan helped participants explore the many benefits of outdoor play - from boosting physical health to strengthening learning and emotional well-being - and learn practical strategies for increasing meaningful outdoor time each day.

We’re grateful to everyone who joined us and inspired by the collective dedication to giving children joyful, enriching preschool experiences.
