Rudy's Reading Adventure has begun, and the kids are all in! 👏 Thank you to everyone who attended our summer reading pop up at the new Midlothian library! It was a super fun way for our REDS students to cool off and share what they have already been reading this summer. 📚 Our next meet up will be in July at Robious Landing Park. 🌳 We hope to see you there!

As a reminder, our first summer reading pop-up is next Thursday, June 20th from 3-4 in the Midlothian Community Room at Midlothian Library📚Mrs. Sumner will lead the meeting and chat about books students have read over the summer. Student bingo boards do not need to be completed by this meet-up, but they are invited to bring their bingo boards in for a prize.

This morning we honored our amazing 5th graders as they head onto their next adventure - Middle School! ❤️

With only 6 students, our 5th graders became as close as siblings; learning from each other and growing together. As Aristotle and their incredible teacher Mrs. Guyer said today, "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts", which perfectly applies to the 6, unique and kind students in this class.

We are so excited to watch them take on the world!🌍 Congratulations, 5th graders! 🥳

It was an exciting week in Kindergarten! From Grandparents’ Day and a field trip to Leatherwood Farm to their classroom chicks being born, it was a week filled with love, exploration, and lots of joy 🩷🐣🌻

Today our students, staff, and parents worked hard to beautify our campus! Our K-5 "REDS families" weeded, cleaned, mulched, and planted beautiful flowers to spruce up our outdoor spaces for the Spring & Summer seasons. It was a special morning, and we could not be more proud of our students! 🌱☀️🌷🌼

A huge THANK YOU to our parents for their donations and volunteering their time towards today's beautification efforts! And thanks to Mrs. McGoff for organizing and teaching our REDS students the meaning of serving others❤🌎

This morning, our Reading Specialist, Danise Sumner, hosted our first annual Battle of the Books competition at REDS - a trivia-style competition only offered to 4th and 5th graders. B.O.B.'s purpose is to nourish our students' hearts and minds with incredible award-winning books and to develop friendships based on socialization, competition, and respect. 📚

Our participants competed in front of a live audience and showcased their literary knowledge by answering questions about plots, characters, themes, and specific details from each book they read.

Thank you to all the participants, teachers, and supporters who made REDS Battle of the Books a success, and CONGRATS to our winning team, The Nameless Readers! 🥊

Our students have been engaged in various literacy activities, reading informational texts and nonfiction books about reptiles. Thanks to Scaly Tails, they witnessed these amazing creatures up close, bringing their learning full circle. 📖✨

Today kicks off Rudy’s Reading Week! 📚

Join us for a celebration of books and reading at REDS! 🥳 The focus this year is on nonfiction books, specifically reptiles. Students will be engaged in various literacy activities and reading informational texts about lizards, bearded dragons, snakes, chameleons, and more!

On April 11th, Scaly Tails RVA 🐍 will be comingto REDS for an in-house field trip for students, where they will visit with the reptiles as a culminating activity!

It’s sure to be one in a “chameleon!”🦎

🌷📆 Just a reminder that we will be closed from March 29th to April 5th for Spring break. Wishing our students a wonderful Spring Break and a happy Easter filled with joy, laughter, and fun! 🐣✨
