CHES parents:
I was walking home down the path behind the trailers after I walked my kids to school this morning. There was an Opossum laying there so I stopped to take a picture to show my kids and husband later. I was at least 6ft away and zoomed in because Opossums scare me 😬🤣
There were 2 boys, I assume brothers, riding their bikes up to the school. The oldest looked at me while I was taking the picture so I told him what I was doing. He walked over and then proceeded to squat down and start petting the Opossum like it was a puppy 😳 I tried every word of kind advice I could think of to get him to leave it alone. “Buddy you should stop. They are full of germs. If it bites you, it may have rabies and you could get sick. Please stop petting him. Seriously you should stop. Please be sure to wash your hands and keep them out of your face until you do. No really-you need to stop and leave it alone.”………you get the idea. Finally another dad walked by and said yeah buddy, be sure to wash your hands. After that dad walked the boy finally left it alone and went to get his bike and finish going to school.

So to whoever’s child this is, I love the heart your child has for wildlife and the interest level and curiosity he showed. However, you may want to remind him most of the animals in Woodlake are wild and should probably be looked at and not touched.

****Also, this post is simply informative because I would want to know if my kid was petting a germ covered animal. Other than ignoring my plea to stop petting it, you child was kind and respectful. Simply curious…..I didn’t want him to get bit.

Swift Creek needs a few more 7U and 9U 7v7 flag players! We've only had one practice, so you haven't missed anything. No need to register now, just show up tonight at Swift Creek Middle School, join the team on the field, and see what you think! It's only a five-game season, we practice 2x/week, the cost is low, and it's a TON of fun! It's a great intro the fall football season! Come on out!

Attention football players! Everyone knows a football team is only as good as its offensive and defensive linemen! There is a reason the vast majority of college football scholarships are given to the big guys…they are THAT important. We have a great opportunity over the next couple weeks to help our linemen get better. Join Coach Hall at Manchester High the next two weekends for a youth lineman camp!

You do not have to be a current player. If you are the parent of a big kid who is struggling to find their way in other youth sports, football may be his or her future passion! Give it a shot! Swift Creek athletics is OPEN for CHES kids!

As principals for a day at Clover Hill Elementary School, twins Hugh and Henry learned from Principal Karyn Andersen that a walkie-talkie and a clipboard are essential tools.

Parents, kids who reside in the Swift Creek, Clover Hill, and Woolridge elementary school districts are eligible to play football at the Swift Creek Athletic Association! 7U, 9U, 11U, and 14U for the Spring flag season. We'll practice twice a week at Swift Creek Middle, games on Saturdays. Kids are encouraged to play other spring sports as well, and the season will be wrapped up by Memorial Day! Clover Hill Elementary School students performed 5,000+ acts of kindness that included community service, trash pickup, writing thoughtful letters, donating socks and much more. We have lots of unclaimed clothing items, water bottles and lunch boxes in our lost and found! If you see something that belongs to your child, we have tables set up just outside of the lobby where everything is laid out. Video below! Any items leftover will be donated to Goodwill. Tables will be up for 1-2 weeks and we will give notice before anything is donated.

Today was a perfect day to bike, walk or roll to school! Thank you to Clover Hill Elementary School PTA for providing snacks and water for all of our walkers. We had a great turn out both at school and WSRC.
