We are thrilled to introduce Colleen Howard, our expert lead educator behind our new tutoring and academic support offerings at Beacon!

Colleen is a veteran elementary educator with 17 years of hands-on experience in elementary education. Currently active in the classroom and an aspiring school administrator, she brings a deep understanding of how young students learn, connect, and thrive. She is passionate about meeting every child's unique needs and building genuine confidence in their learning journey!

Here is what Colleen is bringing to Beacon this fall:

🔢 Small Group Math (Elementary):
Hands-on, engaging, activity-based math sessions designed to build strong core concepts, problem-solving skills, and math confidence alongside peers.

📚 1-on-1 Individual Tutoring (PreK–6th Grade / All Elementary Subjects):
Personalized, targeted instruction across any elementary subject area to support, enrich, or reinforce your student's learning.

Whether your child needs a boost in math, extra reading support, or overall academic enrichment, Colleen is ready to partner with your family!

We have a small number of openings in our Wednesday afternoon/evening Suzuki classes! This class is offered by our incredible instructor, who has trained in the Suzuki method and taught strings lessons and classes for over 20 years!

Our current openings include:
- Beginner Cello (ages 5-7): 3 spots
- Beginner Violin (ages 5-7): 3 spots
- Beginner Violin (ages 12-18): 2 spots

Please reach out with any questions about the program - small group lessons are capped at 5 students per class and begin September 1st!

Open House Night at Beacon!

What a wonderful way to kick off a new school year!

Our students dropped off their supplies, explored the building with a fun scavenger hunt, and shared their wishes for the year ahead. But the best part was watching everyone settle in by playing, making new friends, reconnecting with old ones, and getting excited about being back at Beacon.

It was just as special seeing our parents meet, connect, and get to know the families they'll be sharing this year with.

We loved having our Beacon community together and can't wait to officially start the 2026–27 school year on Monday!

Hiring 1-2 additional Piano Lesson Instructors!

Are you a passionate, skilled piano educator looking to grow your teaching studio within a supportive, community-centered environment in Midlothian? The Music Academy at Beacon RVA is seeking dedicated piano instructors to join our team for the upcoming season, beginning September 1st!

We Offer:
- Competitive Pay Structure: We use a transparent revenue split model. Instructors pay is approximately $42+ per hour!
- Administrative Support: Focus on what you do best, teaching! We handle billing, scheduling logistics, and facility management.
- Inspiring Environment: Teach in a professional, collaborative space alongside educators dedicated to musical and academic excellence.

Qualifications:
- Background in music performance or music education (degree or equivalent professional experience preferred).
- Strong foundational pedagogical skills with the ability to teach beginners through intermediate/advanced students.
- Warm, encouraging approach to student progress and musical growth.

📍 Location: Beacon RVA (Midlothian, VA)

This week was all about celebrating what makes each of us unique while learning how much we can accomplish when we work together. We created a class puzzle showing how all of our different pieces come together, tackled projects and challenges as a team, and made kindness rocks to share with our Woodlake neighbors.

We also created a rainbow chain filled with all the things that make us happy!

Our Music Academy is filling up fast! If you've been wondering where to send your kiddo for high quality music lessons and classes taught by experienced, kind, and thoughtful educators, look no further!

We have the following openings at this time:

Monday - Guitar Lessons (4 spots)
Tuesday - Piano Lessons (2 spots)
Wednesday - Suzuki Method small groups ages 5-7 (1 spot for violin, 3 for cello)
Thursday - Piano Lessons (3 spots)
Saturday AM - Violin private lessons or Piano Lessons (3 spots)

Enrichment Track (T/Th): FULL! | Academic Track (M/W): A Few Open Seats

We are officially at capacity for our Enrichment Track! A huge thank you to our amazing community for filling those spots so quickly, we can’t wait to kick off a fantastic term with your learners.

If you’re still looking to complete your homeschool schedule or want structured support in core subjects, our Academic Track still has a small number openings!

Whether you need a partner guiding your learner through their math and language arts curriculum, social structure and unit study enrichment activities, or a community where your child can connect with other homeschoolers to supplement what you're doing at home, we’ve got your family covered:

Using YOUR chosen curriculum, your child will be guided through their math and language arts time during two short academic blocks on Monday/Wednesday. The rest of the day will be spent on enrichment, novels read-aloud, fun science and art projects, structured social time, and outdoor exploration!
