In our last classes of the Bongos semester, I mentioned that the rhythm/meter of our chant "Hippity, Happity, Hoppity" was inspired by Dave Brubeck's "Blue Rondo a la Turk". Check it out, families-- and try saying the chant over top of the music!
When we expose our kids to rhythms like this one, we're expanding their understanding of what music can sound like-- AND "unique" rhythms won't feel as difficult to learn or appreciate later on in life! Enjoy!

This beautiful boy joined our family last Monday evening, and we’re so in love! Ms. Lindsay, Luke, and the whole family are doing great. We’ve been singing a lot of “Lukey’s Boat” for this sweet guy! He can’t wait to join music class this fall! 😉🥰

This is so important!

We’re having such a blast this spring semester! So far we’ve used the songbook a couple of times in class, and I’ve got another way for you to enjoy it at home— current families, can you and your children find all these images in your Maracas songbook? Which song illustration is your favorite? 🥰
Love this! Making music together = joy.
The marimba has a special place in my heart because a) it’s beautiful, but mostly b) I lived with a marimba for three years in college because my dear friend and roommate (a percussionist) owned one. 😂

I got to snuggle three sweet kiddos (four, if you count the one in my belly!) during one of our songs in class last week— it’s such a joy and a privilege for me to get to sing and play with so many wonderful children and their families! Music Together is so special to me because it combines music learning with a strong focus on building community. ❤️

I posted earlier this week about how there's no minimum age for music learning, so here's a great reminder that our older kids still benefit from Music Together also! I found my almost 6yo and almost 8yo playing with one of this semester's chants-- they're technically above the age range we teach in class, but they're absolutely not "too old" to play with the music like this! Makes my heart happy. 🥰

There is no minimum age to start engaging musically with your child! Even babies in utero benefit from hearing music, and the littlest babies can coo along. Music is magical, folks.

Spring registration for the Maracas collection is now OPEN for Thursday classes and open for preregistration for Charter Colony residents for Monday classes (Monday class registration will open to the public on Saturday, 3/11)!
