Today was our last day of the summer camp season. Our morning camp competed in the Mars Math Expedition game, with Team Hyenas taking 1st Place 🏆 We had over 150 campers this year from grade K-7. Thanks to everyone for a fun summer, and we hope to see you at the club this fall!

Congrats to our Ocean Science Exploration teams at this week’s camp. They built robots to repair an underwater pipeline, fix turbines, collect a pearl from a clam, and use sensors to gather data about wildlife and an underwater volcano!

Thanks to our 3rd-5th graders at this week’s City Technology summer camp. We had a blast using robots to restore fallen power lines, deliver medicine to a hospital, and take supplies to the emergency shelter following a simulated natural disaster.

We wrapped up our 5th week of camps today, including all of this year’s K-2nd grade camps, where nearly 60 kids learned to code and transformed their robots into space explorers, zoo animals, fairytale characters, and more. We continue with our 3rd-5th grade and 5th-7th grade camps starting next week, including our Robot Combat Camp.
Our morning & afternoon camps will be open on July 4th, but our evening club class will be closed.

RoboKai traveled to Lynchburg today for Hill City Robot Combat V, an event put on by the amazing folks at Vector Space. We are doing intel to bring events like this to RVA. The video below shows our friend Corey Lawrence doing battle with his 3D printed robot, Blu-Ray. He won 1st place in the antweight division. Super fun stuff for all ages!

Today marks RoboKai's return to the VEX IQ Competition! 🏆 We are excited to get the 24-week season underway. We still have spots on teams for ages 8-15. Kids who want to build and compete with robots in an international program can do it through RoboKai. We provides the equipment, the instruction, the team management, and the environment to excel.
RoboKai believes in the power of competitive robotics to not only prepare kids for the future workforce, but also for working as part of a project team, setting goals, turning mistakes into learning moments, and striving to be their best.
We don’t believe in winning and losing ... only winning and learning.
Most important, we want kids to understand that their potential is limited only by the work they are willing to put into achieving their goals. There are lots of smart, creative people in the world. It’s the ones who work hard who become the game changers of tomorrow.
