My favorite classroom moments are often those that are not planned. Today we discovered this beautiful Eastern Bluebird got himself into a troublesome situation. He'd flown into a squirrel feeder but could not find the way out. Students jumped into rescue mode, working together to free this little guy. He was so grateful, he sat for just a short while and sang to us, before flying off into a nearby tree. 🐦

A non-traditional history lesson took us to a local cemetery on a scavenger hunt for clues into the past and to learn more about the important role cemeteries have within a community. Students also received lessons on proper cemetery etiquette.

Tri Village Academy LLC has added a course offering to the summer schedule for young ladies, ages 10 - 14. Reading Rebels and Writing Warriors is a course that will focus on examining banned books and strengthening students' creative writing skills. This course is taught by an experienced secondary English education instructor, the headmaster of Tri Village Academy LLC. Course work is designed to engage students, deepen their love for reading, and improve their writing skills. Course runs Fridays from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Half of the day will be spent exploring different genres, writing styles, and discussing the selected literature, with the second half of the day spent engaging in the creative writing process. As often as the Michigan weather allows, reading and writing lessons will take place outdoors, with 20 acres for students to explore, view wildlife, and build forts. Students bring their own lunches, required reading materials, and their writing materials. Course work includes discussion questions and writing assignments, all optional and open for the students to decide if they wish to complete. Feedback will be provided on all completed assignments. Highly recommend this course for mature students, as the literature selected contains adult language and sensitive topics. Parents are welcome to stay and participate in our discussions as well.
