What’s for Lunch?!

You can check to see what the school options are for lunch and breakfast daily at Nutislice (you can print the monthly menu). There are always two options daily for lunch - often referred to as Hot Lunch or Choice Lunch.

Student Wireless Communication Device Policy 🤳: You may remember that at the end of the 2025-2026 school year, we sent a survey seeking input to help develop a cell phone use policy to comply with new State of Michigan laws. You gave great feedback, as usual! Now, as we head into the new school year, we are implementing the new Student Wireless Communication Device Policy that your feedback helped create.

Please note: This applies to cell phones, tablets, and other personal wireless electronic devices. Exceptions will be made for certain devices that support student needs.

And now, the policy...

𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐊-𝟖
- Devices are not permitted for use by students once they are inside their school building.
- Devices are away all day, from the time the student enters the building until the time they leave.
- Devices must be stored in students' backpacks or lockers at all times.

𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝟗-𝟏𝟐
- Devices are only permitted for use before the first bell, during the student's designated lunch time, and after the final dismissal bell. All other times, including passing periods, are prohibited.
- Outside of usable times, students' devices must be stored in their lockers.

𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 & 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬
- Plans change, emergencies occur, things happen, inevitably as soon as we drop them off at school. We get it. If you need to reach your child urgently, please contact their school's main office. Our staff will make sure they get the message and/or call you back.
- Your cooperation and support are critical to this policy's success. Please discuss these expectations with your student and ensure they are prepared to follow this policy every day.

Stop by the school again Sunday from 2PM-4PM our “Chalk the Walk” event! It is a great chance to connect with other Atoms, make our school more welcoming on the first day and help with first day jitters!

Hey, MPS family... it's your Communications team here, and we have another top-secret mission for you, should you choose to accept it.

Tomorrow, our teaching staff officially returns to work as we get ready to kick off the 2026-2027 school year - and we need YOUR help!

We're hosting our annual Opening Meeting at Central Auditorium tomorrow, August 18, until about 11 a.m. Here's where we need you:

1. Get your best LIONS TO THE SUPERBOOOOOWWWWLLLL cheering voice ready.
2. Arrive at Central Audiotorium by 10:45 a.m. (parking will be very limited, so walk if you can!)
3. Line up on the sidewalks that lead from the front doors of the building.
4. When our staff exit around 11 a.m.: clap, cheer, yell, chant, and send them off to school with all the good vibes!

Thanks for your assistance in making this year the best year yet! Shhh, don't tell anyone.. it's not like they'll see it on the internet or anything.

Bangor West, Kolb, MacGregor, Hampton, Auburn Elementary, Western Middle School, St. Johns, Meridian, Floyd, Havens, Nouvel, Adams, Central Park, St. Pauls, Chestnut Hill, Zion Lutheran, McGuire Elementary, Mt. P Middle School, Freeland Middle School, Freeland Elementary and Learning Center are all celebrating their students!!

- Celebrate, because all our teachers are awesome & you're going to have the best year ever.
- Back away from the keyboard before you send us a DM asking us to put you in your bestie's class. It doesn't work like that. (Just think - you'll meet new besties!)
- If you're a parent/guardian, check your email address and phone number for accuracy. We wouldn't want you to miss those 5 a.m. texts come December.
