Learning to read, reading to learn
These are skills that serve students throughout their lives and are qualities many families hope to cultivate in their children.
What are the “classics” taught at Founders Grove? Students encounter enduring works that have shaped cultures, ideas, and civilizations across time. They may read Aesop’s Fables, Greek myths, and selections from Homer in the early years before progressing to works by Shakespeare, Frederick Douglass, Mark Twain, Abraham Lincoln, and other influential voices.
Through these texts, students engage with the questions, ideas, and stories that have influenced generations. Classical education invites students into a conversation that spans centuries, helping them develop wisdom, character, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. These works are not read simply because they are old, but because they continue to offer insights into what it means to be human.
