Studios is dedicated to providing the most current, comprehensive, and motivational music teaching to help you find your voice. About Voice Lessons: In this studio, you will learn a good vocal technique that allows you to sing with a natural sounding voice, but will improve things like range, power, flexibility, riffs/runs, and style. The right vocal training will allow you to sing in the style or

genre that most appeals to you, rather than forcing you to sound like something you are not. Most importantly, the right vocal technique will balance both the lower and the upper registers with a smooth connection between the lower and upper voice. Do you think that singing and voice lessons are only for opera singers? Do you think that working with a voice teacher or vocal coach will change the unique quality of your voice? The truth is that the right voice lesson will not make you sound like an opera singer (unless that is your goal) and the right vocal coach will not try to force you into the vocal quality of their favorite style of music. I like to approach all students as working toward creating their own unique individual voice. Many rock, pop, gospel and r & b singers have taken voice lessons. With voice Lessons you can clarify the mysteries of good intonation and professional technique. We will study many things that will give you the growth that you’re looking for while learning proper technique but yet keeping your style. Studios is dedicated to providing the most current, comprehensive, and motivational music teaching to help you find your raw voice and the beauty that lies within it. Like I have said before, I like to approach all students as working toward creating their own unique individual voice. No two voices are exactly alike. Together, we will work towards goals such as:
1. To show guidance in how to love music and to be proud of your ability and training.
2. To give you every advantage in learning your instrument in a vocal healthy way.
3. To grow into a competent vocalist and arts-lover, whatever your life's calling might ultimately be.
4. To enhance your musicianship skills and build confidence in performance as well as growth in imagination.
5. To establish a vocabulary for discussing singing and to understand your progress as a singer/performer.
6. To create an environment where the emotional, artistic, and inner journey can reach its fullest expression alongside your vocal journey.
7. To honor values of positive thinking, supportiveness, humility, professional integrity, honesty, discipline, confidence, compassion, hope, and joy. I have found in my years of training and experience, that not just one specific type of training made my voice complete. It was through years of practicing and exploring my "instrument" that I finally found my voice. It took me years to discover all the shades and colors to my voice, and I'm still finding them today. I will provide you with skills that can help you get there while creating a lifelong appreciation of the beauty this art fundamentally brings.

Wonderful Youth Mentor Program today for the Permian Basin Opera led by mentor Ben Spencer. Thank you so much for all your knowledge in Directing.

Ben Spencer has been an active member of the arts community in West Texas for the past 20 years. Directing on multiple stages and assisting the theatrical arts across Texas through his involvement with Theater Network of Texas, he has honed his craft on everything from youth theater to musicals. Most recently Ben directed the world premier of Of Men and Cars, the winner of the AACT NewPlayFest in 2022. Educated at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and a certified adjudicator for AACT, Ben will bring a unique viewpoint on directing and the role of a director, combining dramaturge and vision to create something that playwrights and actors can be proud of.

Midland College Music Department is excited to be offering a few full-ride scholarships next semester for students who are doing a music curriculum pathway (associates in music) here at Midland College. If you have any students that would be interested in this scholarship, please have them reach out to Dr. Bewley [email protected] or Katie Osuamkpe [email protected]. Audition dates are Saturday, May 6th starting at 11am and Wednesday, May 10th starting at 5 pm. They will be held in the Wagner and Brown Auditorium located at the Allison Fine Arts Building.
