Congratulations to our students who were selected to the MISD All-City Band!
These students are mostly 2nd year players who audition on difficult high school all-state etudes. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and determination!
These students will represent Alamo on November 21st at the MISD All-City Band Clinic & Concert where they will perform alongside students from Abell, Goddard, and San Jacinto under the direction of Dr. Eiben from UTPB!

Congratulations to our students who were selected as members of the All-City Band last night! We are so proud of your hard work and determination!
We also had a few alternates that worked hard and came up just a little short, but are incredibly proud of the work they put in to learn their music and ultimately become better musicians!

Mrs. Mackay Marches Macy’s!!!
TOMORROW IS THE BIG DAY!! Mrs. Mackay will be on your TVs as a member of The Band Directors Marching Band in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! You can watch on NBC at 8:30am!
The BDMD is 385 members strong and is comprised of band directors from all 50 states and Mexico!!
We will be following the Camp Snoopy Balloon and should be pretty early on in the parade according to our step off time of 8:45am! We should be hitting Herald Square (the star in front of Macys) around 10am!
***UPDATE! Parade order is apparently now going to be Snoopy Balloon, Smokey the Bear Balloon, Jolly Green Giant Float, US! We are the 2nd band in the parade.***
The band met in NYC for the first time on Sunday, rehearsed for 12 hours over the last 4 days - late at night, early (6:30am!) in the rain, in 34° weather, in front of the NYC skyline, in an armory, at the location of the Alexander Hamilton-Aaron Burr duel - watched the Rockettes, took in the view from The Top of The Rock, performed at the 9/11 Memorial, watched the parade balloons being inflated and floats being built, and got to explore NYC a bit on our own.
If you are watching the parade, Mrs. Mackay will be playing her clarinet towards the back of the band (after the percussion and sousaphones), 3 people from the bottom of the screen - look for her braids!
At Herald Square in front of Macy’s, Mrs. Mackay will be to the right of the star (on the ground) near the end of the 3rd banner.
Next up is a very early 1:45am bus call, 3:10am TV rehearsal for the producers of the parade/cameras, a 4am breakfast, and a 6:30am line up time before hitting the parade route at 8:30am!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING, SCOUTS!
