What a privilege it was playing the Bach Double with a gifted student! 🎵🎻 (P.S. Fun fact he is only 12 years old and been playing less than 3 years!) Wish I had a longer clip. He did such a wonderful job!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Every summer, when the weather turns warm, we meet quite a few neighbors who choose to sleep outside or in their cars rather than come into shelter. Many times, these friends of ours are suffering from mental health challenges or addiction issues who still visit the Open Door for lunch, but we don't let them leave empty-handed.

We keep a stash of summer and winter sleeping bags to hand out to people in crisis, but we handed out our last sleeping bag a few days ago. Would you be willing to donate a sleeping bag for one of our homeless neighbors?

This is my former violin teacher, Yasha Tulchinsky and he is from Russia. When I was 15 years old, I didn’t have a lot of confidence in my violin playing. He was a tough teacher but the life lesson he shared was powerful.

One day, I went to a lesson and I didn’t practice before it. Yasha could tell I wasn’t practicing at home because I would keep stopping and starting during the musical piece. He had a large mirror in his studio and told me to look in the mirror while I was playing the violin. He said, “Eric, you will be great!”

That was the first time I ever had anyone say this to me. My confidence as a musician grew immensely after the lesson. I went home and started practicing in front of my mirror and never forgot his positive words.

Sometimes you just need someone who believes in you and reminds you to never give up. If this message inspires you, spread it with someone. Stay inspired ❤️⭐️
