The countdown is on, Bynum School family!
We are so excited to welcome our students back on June 8th for our summer session. A new term means new memories, new milestones, and more moments that remind us why we love what we do.
We cannot wait to see every single one of our amazing students walk through those doors!

Every Monday and Thursday mornings, our adult students help prepare Chuy’s for opening. Students assist by setting tables with napkins and utensils and distributing water and tea pitchers throughout the restaurant before guests arrive. This hands-on experience helps students build valuable job and life skills such as responsibility, teamwork, communication, and workplace readiness. Opportunities like this provide meaningful real-world experience and help foster confidence and independence. We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with Chuy's, which makes these hands-on job coaching experiences possible for our students.

Our Secondary 2 students learn not only in the classroom, but throughout the community as well. Through community-based instruction, students build important life skills, develop independence, and strengthen their social skills. Students recently visited Midland Animal Services, where they logged volunteer hours by cleaning cat and dog feeding bowls and helped to keep the conference room clean. A huge thank you to Midland Animal Services for welcoming our students and providing such a meaningful learning experience!

What an incredible year it has been for our amazingly talented praise bands at Bynum School!
These students have consistently dedicated their time to practicing with Ms. Tera and Mr. Lewis to lead us in worship throughout the school year. Beyond their performances at school, these groups have also stayed active in the community, sharing their gifts and brightening the lives of others.
Some of their highlights this year include visiting and singing for residents at Manor Park, enjoying group lunches off campus, and performing at various community events. We are so proud of their leadership, talent, and heart in everything they do.

What's Cooking in the Kitchen?
Students in Secondary 2 stepped into the kitchen to learn how to make homemade mac and cheese! This hands-on experience gave students the opportunity to build important life skills such as independence, responsibility, food safety, teamwork, and following directions. Activities like this are especially meaningful as students transition into young adulthood, helping build confidence and encouraging greater independence in everyday tasks.

This past Friday, our staff enjoyed an amazing day of professional development. The morning was dedicated to meetings, while the afternoon was spent bowling. We are incredibly grateful for our talented and dedicated teachers, assistants, therapists, administrators, and facilities staff, who pour their hearts into serving our students and families every day. Your commitment, compassion, and hard work make a difference, and we appreciate each of you more than words can express. A special thank you to Lucky Strike Midland for hosting us and helping make the day so enjoyable!
