Last week, TPT announced major changes to its plans for sellers. It has hit the community hard. Honestly, I don't like being put in this position, and TPT could have handled it better. Sellers have to choose between committing to selling only on TPT with a commission cut, taking a huge commission cut to keep other sites, or leaving TPT altogether.
After careful consideration, I’ve decided to stay and go Exclusive. That means my paid digital science resources will live in one place, my TPT store. I will continue creating original, unique science and STEM explorations and helping schools and families have a positive science fair experience.
For where I am in my life right now, one home for my work is the simplest and most sustainable choice. I have had a challenging year, and many of you know I am still recovering from back surgery. Life looks a little different for me. I like having everything in one place, and TPT is still the #1 online teachers' marketplace for what it provides buyers and sellers. I want my focus to be on creating experiments, and that takes time and testing to get it right for you and your students.
TPT began as a place for teachers to sell the resources they create for other teachers, and I still believe in that. Other sellers are choosing differently, and that’s okay. Each of us has to do what works for our own business and life.
For you, nothing changes: the same hands-on K-8 science resources, in the same store. I may also have something new for science fair families soon.
