Girls Golf: In the first tournament of the season, the Midland High Chemic Varsity Girls Golf Team took home the first-place trophy with each of the eight members of the team receiving medals. Seven teams competed in the two-person scramble event held at the Swinging Bridge Golf Course near Tawas City. Charlee McPeak and Brielle Dominowski placed 2nd overall with 84; Audrey McLaughlin and Brooke Leonard-Schmitzer were 3rd with 87; Grace Pilgrim and Hannah Goodman were 5th with 88; and Paige Roller and Lily Mushlock were 6th with 89. The Chemic girls golf team graduated four seniors last year and have one returning sophomore. This was the first Varsity tournament for 7 of these 8 golfers.

💙VARSITY WINS AT BCW💛

The Varsity Volleyball team had a great start to their season by winning their first tournament of the year!!! They played in the Ann Heisler Tournament at Bay City Western on Friday.

Their day began by beating Oscoda 25-8, 25-23 in their first pool play match. They then lost to Brandon-Ortonville 22-25 & 27-29 but rebounded to beat Freeland 25-16 & 25-21.
Finishing pool play at 2-1 with +27 points, placed them as the 4th seed in the gold bracket.

The Chemics first opponent as they went into the quarterfinals was Freeland, who they beat with scores of 25-21 & 25-13.

Moving on to the semifinals, Midland defeated host Bay City Western, 25-20 & 25-23.
The finals saw them win the first set against Ogemaw Heights 25-15 and then lose a tight second set 25-27. The final set was a hard fought battle of back and forth, until Midland came out on top with a score of 18-16 to win the gold bracket championship.

Lia Streeter led the offense with 111 assists, 10 aces and 31 digs. While teammate Neveah King added 15 assists.

Avery Stewart delivered 59 kills, 7 aces and 19 digs for the day, while Ellie Powell contributed 38 kills, 6 aces and 37 digs. Lana Streeter had 19 kills and 10 digs.

Fellow teammate, Olivia Wiggins, chipped in 11 kills and 10 digs and Emma Frazee helped the team with 10 kills.

Bella Kroll had 71 digs for the tournament, while Alivia Griffin contributed 42 digs and Reese Shepard 13.

Midland's overall record to start the season is 5-1.
