YSU Rocket Club

The team completed their judging session for the 2025 IREC this week as well! They thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to not only talk to rocketry experts but to also learn from their peers.

The 2025 Penguin Powered Rocketry Team had the honor of launching at the 2025 International Rocketry and Engineering Competition.
The team launched Supernova: a high speed rocket that flew on an O5500X with unique challenges such as a minimum diameter design, 1 continuous body tube, and it was the team’s first supersonic design.

2022 Spaceport America Cup
The Penguins very first year at Spaceport America Cup. The inaugural team set out to New Mexico to prove that penguins can fly! They proved it on launch day and the penguins have been flying ever since.

Making Penguins fly: YSU Rocket Club reaching new heights Not many people know that Youngstown State University has a rocket club.

The YSU Rocket Club spent the last week competing in the 2022 Spaceport America Cup in New Mexico! This has been the goal of the club for the past two years and has been a surreal experience. Not only did we get to show off our hard work, but we got to meet many other rocket teams from all over the world!
