It’s been a great few weeks in our Health Science classes! We have learned about emergency action plans, wound care and documentation, patient positioning, fracture care and splinting, spine boarding, and all have undergone CPR and AED training. We’ve also had the opportunity to certify 31 students as BLS providers, which makes them legally able to provide CPR if needed in emergency situations. It’s been a great semester already!

We had a great time hosting and sponsoring the First Annual Miss Fight For A Cure Pageant! This was a great event, in which 100% of the net profit goes to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for cancer research and funding. We especially loved watching one of our own members, Paige Hathaway, as she was crowned Miss Fight For A Cure. What a great way to start our Pink Out Events during National Breast Cancer Month!

The DCHS HOSA Club had a great time at Spirit Day at Auburn University. We were able to visit the College of Nursing, the College of Science and Math, VCOM, the School of Kinesiology, and Public and One Health, while participating in hands-on labs and interactive experiences. It was a great time of learning and growing as a club! Go Warriors!

We are so thankful for the experiences our Health Science Internship Students were able to receive through the 19 different healthcare locations over the last 12 weeks. Thank you to Flowers Hospital, Dr. Kesserwani and his staff, Dr. Colby Horne and his staff at Ozark Veterinary Clinic, Echo Fire and Rescue, and Vivian B. Adams School for accommodating us during this time. These experiences go well beyond the classroom and help our students make more informed decisions on their future careers!
