I wanted to share more about our daycare because I know as a parent it is extremely hard to openly trust a daycare center. I encourage every parent to come tour the center and meet the staff as that is the best way to ensure you trust the people watching over your whole world.
Munchkinland 2.0 is a locally owned and operated daycare center. I feel as though we are able to combine the feel of an in-home daycare with the benefits of a daycare center. We are just small enough to feel cozy, but just big enough to be a center and operate extended hours for working families.
I grew up in Middleville and attended TK Schools my entire life. I know that TK is still rapidly expanding, which I think is wonderful for our community. That obviously creates a need for care for families before kids start school. Childcare is something that is essential to keep the working class moving, and I want to help alleviate the pressure for working families.
When it comes to a daycare center I believe it is extremely important to employ people who are reliable, flexible, and willing to go above and beyond for trainings. I also believe that in order to keep your employees focused on their job you need to be able to provide them with a livable wage, which is something I strive to do. If your employees feel safe and secure, the kids in your care feel safe and secure.
But why should you trust me? This is not a question I get asked a lot, but it is a question I know parents are asking themselves. What makes me special as an owner? My whole goal is to give back to my community in several ways, helping the working class, working towards community events, and sponsorships (obviously this part will come later). Now I am sure you are thinking, "okay, that sounds good, but what about experience?". Good question, what about my experience. I attended GVSU and was working towards my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I, unfortunately was unable to finish my degree because life happened. However, I also have been working in daycare for roughly 7 years. I also know what it's like as a parent, because I have four children of my own (yes, you read that right, four children). I believe this provides me with unique vision and sight because I know what it is like on both sides.
I also believe in my heart that daycare centers get a very bad rap because as we all know one bad apple spoils the bunch. Employees pass rigorous background checks in order to qualify, this happens before they are even in contact with children.
Now, to answer our most asked question: Where did the name come from? Why 2.0? The name Munchkinland came from the daycare I attended as a young child that was located here in Middleville. With permission from the previous owners, they have allowed me to use the name. However, we could not just use Munchkinland, so we thought it would be comical to add 2.0 because of my generation.
