Congratulations to Abby! She was nominated for TKMS Student of the Month. Last week we had a great time at the Grand Rapids Gold game. Also added some pictures from exploratory classes, groups, team building, game day, and service projects.

Yesterday we celebrated Mrs. Wiseman. We made French toast and showered her with handmade birthday cards. Happy Birthday Mrs. Wiseman!

On Thursday our class walked to the high school to cheer on our TKHS Unified Special Olympics Basketball team. That afternoon we had some Valentine themed challenges and games.

Yesterday, we celebrated Abby with cards and unicorn cupcakes. Happiest of birthdays, Abby!

We had a couple of celebrations in our class today. We celebrated Tristan’s birthday with cards and brownies and Kenzie and Ryan were nominated for TKMS Student of the Month. I also included some pictures from the Honors Club bowling trip, grocery shopping, exploratories, and groups. Happy Birthday Tristan and keep up the great work Kenzie and Ryan!

Congratulations to Hunter and Tristan! Hunter was nominated for November student of the month but was sick on the day it was announced so Mrs. Fischer brought him his certificate to our classroom and Tristan was nominated for December. Keep up the great work! I am also sharing a couple of photos from activity event last week and team building activities in Service Learning.

Our Service Learning class had a very busy quarter filling requests for the Classmates Care program that we run. At last count, they had provided 604 new or gently used winter gear items (coats, snow pants, boots, hats, gloves, and scarves) to TK kids in need. Our storage space is at the ECC so we have to take a school van over there to fill requests. One morning I had apologized to the kids because it was really cold out and we had been very busy filling orders. Tristan was quick to tell me not to worry about it and that it makes him feel good to help others. That’s what it is all about. ❤️

This project started a few weeks ago with Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Wiseman helping students create holiday crafts that they could sell to staff members. After their very successful sale, students went shopping to find the perfect gift for their Secret Santa. After wrapping their gift and placing it under our Christmas tree, they were finally able to give and receive a gift today. As I look through these photos, I see how many skills our class was able to work on through this project: academics, social skills, communication skills, patience, thinking of and giving to others, listening, following directions, and more. Many thanks to Mrs. Wiseman and Mrs. Johnson for helping to make this happen.

Miss Kay has spent 6th hour with our class since the beginning of the school year, and sadly today was her last day with us. Good luck Miss Kay! We will miss you and all think you will be a great teacher.
