The Middlesex Transition Academy (MTA) provides students with disabilities, ages 18-21, the opportunity to address their individual transition goals in an integrated, age-appropriate university environment. Finally, weather we want to be outside in!! Sometimes it gets harder to collaborate on outing plans when there are more options for outside fun. Students learn to work together to plan the budget, the travel and the timing for outings each week.

Our students are so excited to start a new job site this week! Just in time for Earth Day, we are partnering with the Middlefield Park and Recreation Department to clean up the beach at Lake Beseck and Peckham Park. These job sites are going to offer lots of opportunities for our students as we turn into the warmer weather!

What a fun day before Spring break. Some of our students went to a transition unified basketball tournment while others were out enjoying the sunshine on outings downtown. Enjoy a week off; see everyone on the 20th.

Any guesses on how many eggs this was?! Our students helped fill eggs for multiple community events, and WOW was it an adventure. They learned that an assembly line style of working was the most efficient. By dividing and conquering the work, one student opening eggs, one filling and one closing, and another organizing into boxes, they filled over 650 eggs!

Those first Spring hike vibes! We are enjoying going back out and exploring nearby areas. Learning to be prepared on hikes, how to find and follow trail markers, and how to stay with the group are important lessons for hikers.

Big thank you to our community partners at Durham Middlefield Youth and Family Services for coming in and leading our students in a "Safe at Home" presentation. Through reading, listening and conversation, our students participated in problem solving questions about how to make positive decisions when they are at home.
