Scholars for Syria Increasing awareness, resisting sweeping generalizations, and advocating for a free, democratic Syria.

Scholars for Syria is an initiative founded in 2015 at the University of Evansville, now operating on the campus of Seton Hall University. We are a collective effort and opportunity for students and other community members, regardless of nationality, to learn and share information about Syria and work toward its free future. We engage in projects that pool resources, create ideas, and collaborate with like-minded organizations to implement goals that will have concrete, positive effects on the lives of Syrians everywhere. We hope to change the disastrous results of this prolonged conflict however we can, and we strive to weave a chain of connection that will build bridges with the raw materials of humanity, compassion, justice, and love.

Every city adds a voice. Florida, yours is next.

SAC’s Civic Ready series has been moving from community to community, opening space for Syrian Americans to ask questions, name priorities, and understand how civic engagement starts at the local level.

From Ohio’s reminder that “your voice means more than you truly realize” to Chicago’s powerful conversation on safety, healthcare, access, and local leadership — the message is clear: our community is ready to engage.

Now we’re bringing that conversation to Tampa and Orlando.

New York / New Jersey

Different perspectives. One community. One purpose.

As SAC’s Kareem Shora said during the Chicago session:
“Our community comes with many different perspectives.”

That is exactly why civic engagement matters. Knowing who represents us and how to engage with them helps turn those perspectives into informed, organized community action.

New York and New Jersey, join SAC’s Civic Ready session to learn how to navigate representation, build relationships, and make your voice heard.
